Actually no, I shyed away from hotflashing as I can't afford new mobo should it not work and I didn't have any tools (or non-conductive things) to pry out the bios chip once its running. I figured another 20 dollar risk was worth it instead of dead mobo (150+ and anything else it might break). However, I should be getting two more chips today (shipping is more cost than the individual items...one is 21 dollars whereas two are 27). I will use one of them at least to hot flash the others so I can test.

Also, I've had that link before and tried it, it was the original one that caused my bios to brick a while back...before I really joined this forum. If you think that one has a better chance of success, I can try it again...but if its the same one that you found after chinese translation (i did that on google to find it originally) then it does the same thing. Brick bios with no video or any most...Error code C1 (memory loading -- second or third step out of ~70 bios boot)

The last link I sended it is latest bios 17.

I use strong paper clips to remove the eeprom chip, if you have an older board you can do it too, use ASUS award dos flash utility, with the commands /py /sn /f .

Is an waste of chips if you can't recover them.

I use normal, but you have to be careful to use it just in the corners to avoid touching in other parts, but if you have non-conductive is better.
