Just out of interest, I've downloaded and flashed my BIOS with several mods for my Asus Striker Extreme. Unfortunalty, none of them work Vista is refusing to activate. Now, I probably am doing someting wrong, and I'd like a quick throw in the right direction, so please correct me if I'm mistaking something here I've a complete fresh install of Vista now, does it matter to the BIOS mod if the Vista installation is an OEM version or not. Just checking. I've downloaded two working mods, and flashed them, using the BIOS EZ flash, as i've now floppy drive to do this from DOS. I then reboot to Windows, and its still not activated, I'm assuming i need to put in a activation key? Is this an OEM or RTM? Is there anything else I'm missing for this to not work? A run through would be greatly appreciated.
It doesnt matter if you installed Vista using an OEM or Retail installer. Activation works - even on an SP1 (BETA version).. 1. Disable UAC. reboot. 2.You must copy the Asus certificate to your C: drive (root directory) 3. type in slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\asus.xrm-ms (depending if you have the Asus SLIC in the modified BIOS) 4. press ENTER and wait for the confirmation pop-up to appear. 5. Your Vista should now be activated.
small corrections there disable uac reboot install the asus certificate as above change vista's cdkey to an asus oem key to match your version of vista. then it will be activated.
Don t forget you have to also enter an OEM Serial Number that matches your Version of installed Vista(Ultimate, Business etc etc)
