    What do you mean default?
Do you mean the key on sticker that came with computer?
And were the rest of my instructions correct?
    :)

happy news i find the secret :)
i managed to decompile the BOX_Win7XGU and understand the way it works ;) (only for knowledge purposes)

and the secret is in the registry
if you delete this key and the sub keys windows go back to normal :)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA

and then your program works, but for deleting this key you need to do that from WindowsPE or to find another way ;)

    Happy programing...

i fear MadSheep is right here.
I have just try it with a different machine.
the rearm count was reseted to 4 but the machine was in "Notification" mode and when I run slmgr /rearm I got the same error (0xC004FE00).
maybe something need to be change in the "instructions".

I didn't mean to make it seem like anyone was doing anything wrong when I brought up the "0xC004FE00" thing, I just hoped we could work together, as we have, and figure it out for the betterment of the program PMR has come up with. MadSheep! I was also looking at the BOX win7xgu thing but had not been brave enough to use it or decompile it yet, so thanks for that. tuvi123 that was the EXACT problem I was running into no matter how I used the guide or PMR's little application.

lol thats funny then because ive had no problems at all. just like with the taking ownership of the files, i guess it depends on the computer.

    @PMR
It is still not clear to me what this utillity of yours is suposed to do...and i have not been able to using without the errors all the other are getting.
Seeing your screenshot u are using a OEM:SLP preactivated system.... whats the point of resetting the rearm count if the system is already activated?

I suspected this topic was about resetting the rearm count on unactivated system, so basicly one was able to run forever in 'trial' mode, right?

my system is not activated with a loader, a bios mod, or the driver.

and the point of this thread was to show people how to reset the number to 4.

PAYMYRENT has right in some way this app will work in fresh install, if you activated your pc then deactivate and try to rearm you get this error 0xC004FE00 the solution is to delete the registry key i mention in my previews post.

use any key the key isn't the problem!

I always end up with the 0xC004FE00 error, so basically we can conclude it does not work?
    I mean, not without removing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA ?

To bad HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA can not be renamed/deleted from within Windows and we need a PE or ERD disk to remove this values from registry

Deleting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA is much more simpler than doing all this. After depleting your rearm count, boot from your installation DVD and do the following steps

    1. Press SHIFT + F10 to launch CMD as Administrator.
    2. Type regedit to launch Registry Ediditor.
    3. Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and Go to File -> Load Hive, select Computer->%windir%/system32/config/SYSTEM
    4. Type MY_SYSTEM as name for the hive.
    5. Select MY_SYSTEM under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
    6. Delete WPA key under MY_SYSTEM.
    7. Select MY_SYSTEM, goto File -> Unload Hive.
    8. Exit Registry Editor.
    9. Exit CMD Prompt.
    10. Quit the Installation to reboot to your system.
    11. Open CMD as Administrator.
    12. Type slmgr -ipk <default key>
    13. Type slmgr -dlv

    Easier you say? :)
    No way to automate this?

Anyway... i'll stick with OEM preactivation...this is just to much of a hassle

if you get the 0xC004FE00 error then your steps is

    1. Delete the registry key (this step is only for once anf if you have the 0xC004FE00 error)
    2. Use the rearm program from PAYMYRENT
    3. Restart
    4. Rearm
    5. Restart
    6. Done!!!

after 120 days with only reaming after 30 days each time
you need to do the steps from 2-5 and you get another 120 days!!!

    thas all
    Nice finding PAYMYRENT
