Well, I got it working in a blank fresh XP Pro SP3 install by activating it, installing IE8 and running the script. Abbodi's script does work well, and I still recommend it for getting updates on Windows 2000. Remember that the WSUS method is incompatible with this method. You have to uninstall the other script before installing this one.
This is what mine looks like after installing all updates. If that does not work try my original script on pg 8. I cannot verify the stability of any unofficial releases.
I quess you are not on XP Professional? If Install.cmd terminates directly, then it means you cannot run WMIC and variables are not set, then CMD is terminated. WMIC is not available on Home edition.
I am on a home edition. I had tested it on the Pro version before and it worked. Is there any way to make it work on the home edition? Or will I have to install the updates manually?
You will have to install the updates manually. Although all the updates are included in the x86 and custom folders.
WHS 2011 is based on Windows Server 2008 R2 (NT 6.1). The original WHS (released back in 2007), on the other hand, is based on Windows Server 2003 R2 (NT 5.2).
If it doesn't work, you have to add the registry entries manually and copy the patched wuaueng.dll file to c:\windows\system32 and dllcache.
