The idea of wu_nginx windowsupdate.invalid (and the patch) is to force WU client to issue SOAP requests in http then nginx will work as a client and redirect the SOAP request in https to the real endpoint fe2.update.microsoft.com it's the same concept of WSUS Proxy (nginx can be used for that too, instead PHP) nginx version must support TLS 1.2 with ECDHE ciphers, which seems 1.1.0 as minimum
Strange, I got it working by pointing the XP RTM machine to the machine with version 1.3a. I had to change some things around, but it worked, except when the dreaded genuine activation message popped up.
Is this using the original 1.3a or a modified 1.3a. I had to modify it to get it to work otherwise I would get your error or 8024400A.
i was using the 1.3a version from the windows xp x64/2003 x86 post by maile3241. [not solved] reinstalling the certificate seems to have broke it or changing the timezone seems to have done it. UPDATE: [SOLVED] it now works.
Interesting. I never got that far, as I have said multiple times, I was stopped at genuine validation. I have never seen that version of Windows Update ever. It seems like an older version somehow.
i already bypassed it and im not even activated, you can clearly see the key icon on the system tray. i just changed wpaevents and blocked activation servers in the hosts file. it finally got me there. the old windows update for xp doesnt look like anything you see here. i think i've once got it working and it looked so different. it didnt have this blue gradient and i think it looked flat blue.
Well maybe that was v4 of Windows Update. That was shut down in 2011. If you got it working more recently, it might be an older version of v6.
no, i used the xp sp1 x64 as a proxy. i dont think nginx will work here in xp sp0. perhaps it needs patching to work on xp sp0.
I see. It also worked for me with the x64 edition. I have never seen such an old version of the site.
this is not an old version of the site though. this is windows update v6, the same windows update website for xp sp3. i remember way before the windwos update servers shut down. it looked like this.
