For me it doesnt work on vista anymore, I installed the update agent and certificate updates but it just stops with a 0x8024400a error. XP seems to be working though. I noticed it went back to being incredibly slow instead of tossing errors so what I did was install the anti-long search updates and it worked.
Also, on my offline updated Vista system it just checks indefinitely, and I cannot install the long search updates because when I run the installers they say the updates do not apply to my system (I have sp2). I would reinstall vista again but I think it's not worth it.
New server works pretty good, only after half an hour of errors it finally found updates (also installed agent, certificates, anti-long search and ie9 updates beforehand). Previous server would just hang at checking for updates and never stop.
When im trying to open install.cmd (Restore_WU_xp_2003) it just pops open for under a second.. what is wrong? Im running a Danish Windows xp sp3. When i try run it in cmd it says; wmic was not approved as a commando I am really hopeing this update fix 2020 will work out. Please help me
This is because you are using XP home and it does not integrate wimc and other tools like local group policy editor (gpedit.msc). But for the proxy method there is no need. Just install WU agent normally
I have looked and looked after a download for WU Agent 7.6. I only have WUA 3.0 installed... i've read that there isnt a installer for WU agent 7.6. is that right? how do i get it then? Sorry for maybe asking dumb
Does this work? WU agent 7.6.7600.320 32bit: download.windowsupdate.com/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/7.6.7600.320/WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x86.exe 64nit: download.windowsupdate.com/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/7.6.7600.320/WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x64.exe
Yes i did haha.. but i did it wrong. I tried to download it from my Windows 10 computer where the link doesnt work. I couldnt understand why the link didnt work then i thought of using xp of course... And woops there it was. I will now work on getting it all up and running.
New problem when i run WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x86.exe. it gives me an error ; Extraction Failed... folder or file cannot be created. Why the h... does it say that now I also tried to run it in safe mode without luck. i did notÃce that it have created a whole lot of empty folder in root folder (C:\windows xp) to be exact 20.002 folders Also when im trying to execute Rootupd.exe it does nothing after i click run. Should i do a clean install of XP and try it again?
Did you also get all those folders haha ? Im currently setting up a new fresh XP. I will try it again tomorrow. and If it still aint working then im trying on XP Pro
Yep but only in french And you don't need to retry with the home edition, I tested it on a fresh install, it also blocks.
God damn..so its only pro... A week ago i bought 2 brand new xp home editions with license key and cd... i got them chep but still. How can that be only pro, if its only for the updates. isnt that the same? Well i gotta get my hands on a pro version then with English language just to 100% But thanks for the help. Great forum btw lots of useful stuff, i didnt even knew it existed until i found this tread.
Time to put this to the test, I broke my XP install on one of my Precisions so i'm going to reinstall.
Doesn't seem to work or am I doing something wrong? I tried update.microsoft.com and it just errors, but WUMT+POSReady .reg does work though.
Got it working on Win XP Pro! Does anyone know where i find the downloaded updates, when im only downloading them without installing? Cant find the path
