    I think I might give that tool a try then. Download just finished.

    Since I already have my external HDD formatted and bootable which options should I use? I just want to make sure I don't screw something up :eek:

    Hmmmm it would be that simple for other people lol. It is telling me "Compatible devices not found". Could it be because the external HDD is already formatted?

    EDIT: Or should I use "Fixed detection mode"?

    Hmm.... just format it again as NTFS, use "Fixed detection mode", then try again :)

    Thank you Mr. Tito! Trying it now. Does it normally take a while? In the "Making the request" window it has the source but the destination field is empty (even though I selected the drive and it's verified in the main box) and the "source progress" box is empty.

    hmmm. It's been a good 10 minutes with nothing showing up in the "source progress" yet but it still says "copying files" underneath next to status. Is this normal? Just need to know if I should restart it.

    thanks! Got it installed and up and running. Now to update drivers and dl some updates. Still no sound/optical but I'm hoping a magical driver will fix that.

    correct. x86. Had an issue where the optical drive disappeared after a Microsoft update and then the audio disappeared after another. Not fun.

    u making progress, very good. let win7 create a restore point so you have a good back up point before you go further;
