My friend and I both recently bought netbooks and wanted to upgrade them to have 4gb RAM, SSD HDD's & Windows Home Premium.
I have an Acer 522 and had no trouble with any of this (bought everything from Crucial website after they guaranteed that the SSD would work in my netbook)
My friend has a Samsung NP-NC110 and when I install the 4gb RAM chip, the netbook won't even POST.
I swapped the RAM chips from my Acer netbook, thinking perhaps it was a bad RAM chip, but even with the RAM chips swapped, the results were the same.
I know that both of our netbooks are advertised as having a 2gb RAM limitation, but I thought that was due to Windows 7 Starter Edition, and not the actual computer itself.

Does anyone know if the BIOS can be modded to handle the entire 4gb of RAM?
Or is this a limitation of the motherboard's memory controller that can't be bypassed?

Any help, thoughts, or ideas are more than welcome.

    Thanks,

    Pat.
