Definitely, last year the best prices for T5 2TB I saw were on Dec. 23 for $242.66 on ebay. B&H & Amazon have them now for $369.99 USD. Elsewhere they want $399.99 Edit: 5/29/2020 I see Amazon has the "Touch" now for $359.99
Well I shot my wad of cash last week & bought a T7 portable (non tough) on eBay for $350.00 USD. I wanted to test it when it arrived Friday so I installed the "Samsung Portable SSD" app & ran it, it ran fine except it said I didn't need any firmware update. Next I ran Samsung Magician & it said "firmware 0" whaaaat! After formatting the exFAT to NTFS & checking again w/ same results I decided to test the WSE2016 server BU & compare the speed to the T5's I have been using. I was shocked that the write speed (for 1+TB of data) was 248.78 MB/Sec vs the last full BU on a T5 was 339.9 MB/Sec. I know that the last time I updated the firmware in the external (EVO 4TB in external enclosure) the write speed jumped from 38 to 413 MB/Sec... huge increase. Samsung's website doesn't say anything about firmware for this T7 but the o'Manual does say how to update it, exactly what I did. I suspect that the 'Touch' firmware wont work on this one so I will just wait & keep checking.
Several eBay stores are offering Samsung T7 2TB Portable External SSD - Blue or Red for $299.99 USD They must of found out they aren't as fast as Samsung hyped them up to be. Sadly I found out the expensive way.
