I have used Sandboxie for 3 years (I am a registered user). It is designed to protect your real file system from infection by setting up a sandbox on the hard drive and preventing baddies from having access to the real file system. Any program I use that accesses the internet must go thru the sandbox on my setup. My firewall protects me by preventing other programs from accessing the internet, or receiving any communication from the internet without permission, so Sandboxie is the only "valve" that gets opened to the internet. It has worked well, and I have viisited some bad, bad websites to test it ( sites that really attempt to download lots of infectious stuff).

Defensewalls goals are different than Sandboxies - so I would just be sure you understand each programs approach. There are some people that use Defensewall and Sandboxie together - some people rate it excellent.

You might also look at Returnil which goes even further and sets up what is essentially a virtual file system alongside your real file system. If that file system gets infected you just delete it. Am not using it, but I would probably make that my second choice at the moment.

Don't get lazy - sandboxes or virtual file systems can get infected with things that can't yet be detected. If you then do some banking from a program going thru the sandbox or virtual file system you get hacked anyway.

Delete and recreate your sandbox / virtual file system before doing confidential financial or personal stuff, then you should be fine.

I probably won't be back here for a week - sorry if I'm not here to answer questions!
