I bet you it will still be around at the time when people do not even remember Windows 10

 

I still use it on one of my rigs...since 2003. Works flawlessly.

 

And PosReady 2009 "trick" works with it as well, so most of the security patches can be get until 2019

 

I need a few variations of these 2003 to recover some older machines to help a small org.

@EFA11 - Could you DeDupVHD a few of them for me so that I am not downloading ISOs that have too much overlap ?

The kernel on Win XP and POSReady 2009 is different from Win 2003 kernel. Then the updates POSReady 2009 to make changes in the kernel would not cause problems?

 

They are basically the same OS with some features enabled or disabled to meet the Desktop, Server or Embedded needs, and WU is smart enough to apply only the applicable updates

Fortunately I grabbed the 2003 R2 SP2 x64 Retail last week.
Sadly the links got 404'd , I couldn't get the 2003 R2 SP2 x64 VL.
