    Hi,

    I have a modded BIOS that has been modded with a Gigabyte SLIC.

    Do I have to use the GIGABYTE2.1.XRM-MS certificate and a Gigabyte OEM key for Windows 7 ?
    Or, can I use another certificate and OEM key such as Dell or ASUS ?

    keys are NOT brand specific, they are only marked against manufacturer, because it looks "nice"

    But SLIC must match certificate

    Have M$ changed something, as I'm sure this used to work previously. I wanted to change the OEM SLP key on a Dell laptop from Home Premium to either Professional or ultimate. I tried both Dell OEM SLP keys that are valid and still in use on other OEM dell SLP machines and anytime upgrade gave me the me the message that these keys can't be used.

    EDIT:
    Oddly even though the message said the keys couldn't be used, upon restarting the machine the upgrade completed successfully :biggrin:
