I got a dose of reality with 10 LTSC. The product key I just ordered doesn't work ! Now I have to figure out whether it's the key I bought, or my set-up in VirtualBox.
Did you buy a key to use with a VM? Do you have back up of UUID? It didn't work from the beginning so UUID seems moot. My bad.
Yes, that seems to be my issue. Was trying to run 10 LTSC in Virtual Box 6.1 (the reason for older Virtual Box is Win 7 host). According to DISM: The current edition cannot be upgraded to any target editions. Setting an edition is not supported with online images.
Fixed it. I love it. The issue was the evaluation version of LTSC I downloaded from Microsoft appeared not to be upgradeable to a licenseable version. There's probably a workaround that I've never heard of . . . So the vendor of the key gave me a full-sized ISO for a clean install. I wonder the best way one would go about determining whether a non-Microsoft ISO has an embedded keyboard tracker?
A bit more reality, I accidentally did not buy the IoT key. I guess the internet says I can switch to IoT (after I buy the right key), if I can figure out why certutil is not working . . .
Ahhh, thanks for your patience with a newbie. 7Zip's SHA256 reader was able to crack that 4.7gb ISO. Certutil worked on a small file, so that encouraged me to use the better tool for the ISO. So my ISO is good. Time to go back and double-check a couple other downloads!
Also you can push more ram like 8GB or 16GB some older laptop could max to 8GB or 16GB, Some rarely some old laptop can push further 16GB+ more ram, like 32GB. Good luck with ol' laptop... ATGPUD2003
