Thank you. I have a question, do you have or know any packs like MCRIP system files too? I used to install it on new systems but since March it hasn't been updated. It installs and updates JAVA/Adobe flash/silverlight.... Maybe you find it interesting to create such an update pack too...
...anyone else having problems with this recent update? Downloaded, hash checks out. Did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional x86 SP1 U (retail). - No connection to the internet - ...obviously, no previous Windows updates. - No AV installed - No programs running Copied the Simplix Pack to a folder and performed a live install; via elevated command: updatepack7r2.exe /ie11 /silent /reboot Installer does his magic; ...after unpacking approx 85% files to a temp directory - error unpacking, ...end off. Tried again, same results. Downloaded the pack again, same routine, same result. Now if it turns out nobody else has problems then... Testing this method already took half a day. Btw, I never used these Simplix Packs before - ...where is the (default) temp directory located the Simplix Pack creates during live installs?
@Daimao - ...as mentioned in previous I did dl the Simplix Pack twice. *hash verified* Thanks though for confirming you had no problems, appreciate it.
Nope, first thing I checked. Thanks for your input though. Did a clean install of the OS after the Simplix Pack live install double failure so I'm unable to investigate further.
There is some problem with your Temp folder Try the command by adding specified Temp folder /Temp= For example: Code: UpdatePack7R2-14.6.15.exe /ie11 /silent /reboot /Temp=c:\new Of course folder "new" is given as example and instead of "new" as temp folder you can use/create another one of your choice. Or use UpdatePack7R2-14.6.15.exe /ie11 /silent /reboot /Temp=new by creating folder "new" on C:\, and starting UpdatePack7R2-14.6.15.exe from root of your C:\
@gamazet; thanks for your input mate, appreciate it! Nope, first time I tried exactly as described in my original post; second time I tried I added the /temp=[drive|dir] option. [elevated command] UpdatePack7R2.exe /ie11 /silent /reboot /temp=c:\simplix Sorry for leaving that out in previous; shoud've mentioned it. ...I did read the instructions on first page, lol Honestly for the moment I'm lost, as mentioned I performed these actions on a clean installed Windows 7 Professional x86 SP1 U. The only thing I can think of... *far fetched* maybe the SSD the OS is installed on contributes to the problem somehow, then again I never experienced any issues eg. while 'extracting' sizeable files.
...nope. Problem is I perf. a clean install of the OS after the two failed attempts - Mentioned it in one of the previous posts. Think you missed it.
Update Hmm, as it turns out the SSD is / was the culprit - Exchanging the SSD for a conventional hard drive 'solved' the problem.
Hello, one question: the program put the updates in the temp-folder win\temp, but when I look into this folder I see that some update-folders are empty (for example KB917607,KB982018-v3,KB2479943.......).The program sayed they are installed sucssefuly! How can that be??? Anyone has an answer? Can I trust this program?
@schmerle123 Temp folder is used only as a working folder for unpacking and preparing files to update live system or/and integrate wim image. Also the updates from Microsoft through Windows update are using temp folders. So don't worry it is a usual routine. And yes, I trust the program. @Bytebuster Info about "600 updates installed" shown is a little Windows bug. In reality cca 152 updates are installed. And it's has nothing with the stability of the system. That's all I know. @f33nix Thanks again for detailed feedback! Just for the others, after integrating Pack in wim, Windows Updates offers only two important updates KB971033 (activation and validation components) and KB253552 (cannot be integrated).
Hello gamazet, I know that Temp folder is used only as a working folder for unpacking and preparing files to update live system or/and integrate wim image. I only wondering that there where only four folder are empty, all the other have dates insite.
After updating live system, junk from temp folders should be automatically deleted. As practical example try to use command with specifying work location /Temp=. Use Temp with Code: UpdatePack7R2-14.6.15.exe /ie11 /silent /reboot /Temp=C:\junk , and after finishing and rebooting look into folder "junk" on drive C:/. It should be emptied. If not it is safe to be deleted
Thanks f33nix for your reply, appreciate it. User error? Well the whole procedure is straight forward. Having said that; anybody can make mistakes, 'moi' included, lol. *Actually, I hope I did so the issue can be resolved*. Hardware failure? Not likely - I performed the procedure on serveral boxes / different hardware, different OS's. Same results. Rest assured, I wouldn't have posted otherwise. At the moment another attempt on yet another box, different hardware, running W7 Ultimate. - Will make some screenshots; when finished I'll share the results. Thanks Gamazet for your reply, appreciate it. - Hmm, i see. Yes, well my friend, I would like to have some more information. - 'Little Windows bug' really? + 'it's has nothing with the stability of the system' ...not very reassuring. 156 updates to be exact using the nl_windows_7_professional_with_sp1_vl_build_x86_dv d_u_677812.iso. ..after installation, Windows reports over 600 installed updates. I'm really intrigued by the fact that nobody reported this? ...which actually made me question if anybody @MDL was 'using' the Simplix Packs. How come eg. if I audit / sysprep the image this doesnt happen? Basicly the same procedure, right? I want to find out what causes this behavior; a simple explanation and ...if any, a solution. Don't get me wrong, I like the Simplix Pack concept and I do appreciate the effort you put in maintaining this thread! If anybody has any thoughts or ideas, I'm 'all eyes and ears'.
