My condolence. I only need HOMEPREMIUM/PROFESSIONAL/ULTIMATE, where most installed is Ultimate x64 (if machine is incapable running it, organizing a new machine is needed).
dism -compress image how to Hello, I have just one question: after successfuly recreating Windows 7 SP1 install.wim using simplix update all is o.k., but the install.wim seems to be much bigger than the original one (I am using Windows 7 64 bit version with option /Index=4, all editions updated) I have read that DISM by default uses fast compress to recreate install.wim But I have also read that that is possible (maximum) compress So my actual question is: if I have recreated install.wim in C:\ , what would be the correct command(s) to mount install.wim , maximum compress it, save it and finally unmount Thanks in advance for assistance Regards, sedmi Update: I have found out how to do it. It is very fast (only about one/1 minute!) and efficient I used this command: Imagex /export G:\install.wim * C:\compressed.wim /compress maximum where * means ALL editions will be compressed ! Result install.wim size:3,83 GB (4,114,726,593 bytes) compressed.wim size:3,66 GB (3,935,866,387 bytes) Then I have renamed compressed.wim to install.wim and using UltraISO 'injected' into Windows 7 DVD Afterwards I have tested this in VMWare WS and all works 100% o.k.
Of course it will be bigger, you are integrating updates = adding more files to the image No, dism uses current compression level which is maximum in default install.wim
You can use DISM to integrate updates from a folder if you desire, having done this in the past it is not difficult. The simplix pack is the most easy way to do this of course as it is neat solution, but if you want to save the extraction time then you can still use DISM to create the updated images.
Could you guys please confirm, will this package update Win7 SP1 since its first release? I'm currently experiencing IE9 failed installation, will this package work? The source link from the first page doesn't work for me, "504 Gateway time out": forum oszone. Edit: Forum Ozone now working for me.
It contains the updates from SP1 -> Current If you have read the thread you should see that it works very well unless you have issues with your machine.
Got problems since I decided to upgrade to IE9 and now even Windows updates fails. What do you suggest, I do system repair first with M$ disk and then load the Simplix Pack?
Careful not to stray too far off the topic in hand...(maybe open own thread for support) Advice: Windows is like a house, once the foundations are crumbling then you can patch up the holes and cracks but they will keep coming back. I would think depending on your system faults that a nice clean Windows install would make you system faster (from cleaning out the crap) and more stable in the long run.
Thanks I knew that I was off topic but still something to do with Simplix Pack since I'm going to use it to fix some problems. Yes a clean install is the best way but can't do it right now as I got some work to do.
Pismo Mount, the utility suggested in the instructions made Daemon Tools corrupted and unusable (re-installed but still unusable) so I had to uninstall it. Can I use Daemon Tools to mount the WAIK Supplement and integrate it in WAIK? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for help and for great and helpful suite! By the way, on TheITBros they also should explain to users to double check if the installation path of WAIK matches with the ms-dos like command. I'm too lazy to create another account there.
The "cd/" command suggestion is very handy since the prompt not always starts in C:, thanks very much. On TheITBros web site they say that "xcopy S:\*winpe-dot3svc* "C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools" /ERY" shouldn't be necessary as they modified the first string of the command to skip the latter, let's see how it goes.
