Thank you for this work. It is a great help on a new installation of Windows 7 x 64. Please continue as well if it takes even longer.
Well I built a iso from the new updater, unfortunately it will no longer fit on a 4.7GB dvd unless I left out the /IE11 switch. No big deal to me, I don't use IE anyways! If someone knows how to compress it like with a /maximum switch while building the iso with oscdimg , please share. Big thanks to simplix for making this, and gamazet for sharing!
Mr.X, I actually used the same method . compress to esd then delete the .esd or .wim from the windows 8.1 setup and put the install.esd from windows 7 in there. Though i stopped, as when people see me install it confuses them madly. And the fact that i had to input a serial on install, while i normally do this when all done. Then simply put the laptop on its side and type it in is something i found annoying myself. Though not that big of a hindrance and no real problem on pc's as its simply on the side. though sometimes on the bottom. Like with some Packard bell systems. Been looking to change the GUI of windows 8.1 setup to have a windows 7 logo though, But seems i need to change some dll files for that, and i simply don't want to do that. Edit: I missed your link to the post, my post might have been useless If i am correct, if i simply swap those 2 dll's in sources, and 2 directory's in boot.wim @ index:2 ? If that's all, then i simply change it once and reuse, as i only change the install.wim/.esd normally anyway. Have you tried it on vista as well ? as vista installer/setup is so slow for me, clicking a button on a 4gb, quad core or a single core 512mb, simply takes 5minutes to actually go to the next page.
Using the "N" release worked perfectly. After using it and leaving out IE11 intergration & updates there is plenty of room for future updates as well. I grabbed a screen for size comparison. Just for reference: Actual DVD-R Capacity = 4,596,992 KB View attachment 34282 636MB on the "N no ie11" iso left free for future updates.
What was the update that prevent Windows Update in Windows 7 to take hours searching updates? Thanks in advance
