Tested all, using MRP and DAZ Windows Loader, all worked as expected (innerhalb normaler parameter, as Data would have said ;):D)).

Ok, I found out the problem.

To start off, I was always using the known SLP keys, and SLP keys will not verify online on that link I posted earlier. That is only for non-SLP OEM keys or otherwise. But I tried to do the SLIC activation with one of the non-SLP OEM keys only after SLP SLIC activation wasn't succeeding.

Frustrated, I downloaded DAZ loader yesterday and intended to try that. I got there and launched the program, and this is what it displayed:

    slic.png

So it did indeed show that the BIOS had proper SLIC (which I already verified yesterday with RWEverything), and that the key was inserted properly. I also installed the xrm-ms license properly, so why was DAZ showing "TRIAL"?

Oddly enough, the cause of this problem is when you enter the SLP serial during Windows installation. During the install, there's a screen that asks you for a serial. I've always just entered it there and un-checked "activate when online", and then inserted the license file with slmgr.

Now, what's odd is that "slmgr /rearm" and then a subsequent slmgr /ipk and /ilc did not fix it.

But when I clicked "Uninstall" in DAZ and then re-booted and tried everything again, it worked perfectly.

    So two questions remain:
    1) What has broken entering a serial during a Windows install
    2) Why did DAZ "Uninstall" successfully re-set the serial components while a '/rearm' was useless?

Not sure about 1) but for 2) it was the Loader initiating a reboot. The /rearm command needs it likewise to be recognized (afaik stopping and restarting sppsvc should do the same).

Ah ok, a 'reboot' as in:

    slmgr /upk
    slmgr /cpky
    slmgr /rearm

Yes, thanks. That would explain it...

Many thanks to the OP for this, a massive help for me when installing W7 on my newly built KabyLake system.

My experience of using it seems a bit different from what's described here though. I think I did it correctly - I installed W7 Pro 64-bit via bootable USB (I integrated the Intel USB3 drivers into the ISO before I started), and then installed the Simplex rollup before going on to install the component drivers etc, and then using MTK. All seemed to go smoothly, but IE remained at 8, which I don't think is supposed to happen.

After saving an image of the raw setup via AOMEI, I installed Windows10FirewallControl, Glasswire, and Avast (and a few other utilities) before connecting to the internet for the first time and checking for updates. First it installed kb2999226 and windows update agent 7.6.7600.320 (which didn't take as long as I'd feared) and then it produced a list of 115 important and 47 optional updates to be installed! Some of those are system-component specific of course, and a very large number are .NET Framework updates (I had to install that as it was required for one my drivers), but the majority are security and optional updates, as well as IE11.

I'm seeking out and hiding all the telemetry updates listed in the OP - as well of course as March rollups kb4012215 and kb4012218, the first steps on MS blocking updates for W7 on my system altogether - but are there any others I should be wary of? And any ideas on why IE11 and so many security updates didn't install for me in the Simplix update in the first place?

EDIT: It turns out only these 5 out of the updates listed in the OP are in my WU list:

KB971033 -x86-x64 (Update for Windows Activation Technologies checking)
KB2952664 -x86-x64 (System Update compatibility for migration to Windows 10)
KB3021917 -x86-x64 (diagnostics and telemetry systems to upgrade to Windows 10)
KB3068708 -x86-x64 (Update to improve the quality of diagnostics and telemetry)
KB3080149 -x86-x64 (Update for CEIP program and diagnostic telemetry)

    Questions:

1- wikileaks released some info about how cia exploited windows operating systems. Have they released updates for it yet?

2- Is it normal for simplix pack to restart your computer and keep installing more updates? It seems to do the same thing again...

Ah. I reran the simplix update application a few times and it did install most of the updates, though there were still a few I needed to install manually. It did install kb4012218 (or kb4012215, I'm not sure which) - I uninstalled it immediately afterwards and no lasting damage seems to have been done, but it might be a good idea to have this removed if possible as other users elsewhere have reported that it has disabled WIndows Update functionality in their newer systems.

Those updates you installed manually after using simplix pack were the so called telemetry updates.

And as long as you don't have a kaby lake cpu, that update doesn't affect your install.
