If you have used simplix pack to offline (pre-) integrate the updates without specificly using the /NoUSB command it will already have integrated the USB3.x installer.

I hate to ask this here but unsure where to post. Is there an update pack for Vista SP2 up til April of 2017? I want to create a final updated iso for it but can't find a ful set of updates to do it. Any help appreciated.

You could install Vista in audit mode in a VM, fully update it, using WU (or WUMT, with WUMT you can also only download all needed updates to integrate them offline) and sysprep/capture it, and you have an uptodate install.wim, replace the original wim with the new one and you're done.

Thank you, I had not thought of that. Mainly about using WUMT :)

I'm thinking of doing an updated ISO of Win8.1 I thought about using WHDownloader but even so some updates are missing that I believe are some superseded updates. And WHDownloader downloads many updates that I do not want as well as the ones for the hyper-v that I'll remove with the MSMG Toolkit.

With WUMT it is more practical to select what I need :)

YOU pick what YOU want it to download. It's YOUR choice. Have you even tried it?

Yes but I have to read the description of each update. If I remove hyper-v and other components I think updates that are not needed will not be offered by the WU. It's just a way of doing the same thing that might be more practical but I'll still test and see what's best.

Use abbodi1406's WHD 8.1 Updates Integration script combined with WHD, it will give you choices what updates to install.

But this is the simplix thread, not 8.1 updates integration thread ;):)

Not really looking to go back and read all 60 pages of this, is it answered in here somewhere how to shrink the install.wim when finished?

On the Pro VL, started at 2.62GB and now 3.93GB.

Use the /Optimize command in the batch scripts or manually export all indexes to a new install.wim.

That was my results using /Optimize, and that particular wim has only the one index.

Did you export the index to a new install.wim? If yes, then you have done all you can to increase the size of the install.wim (only homebrew left).

It really needs some time to assimilate all the information but it is not something very complex just do one step at a time but you need a time of dedication to it. Unfortunately there is no automatic way to do this.

But in any case the information will be useful to other users who may need it :)

Another alternative is to use Acronis True Image (or Acronis Backup Advanced) to create an image of your HD.
Install Windows and all the updates and programs you want afterwards create an image of the HD.
When you need to just restore the image.
