I'm just running updated (KB2852386) cleanmgr.exe and reviewed the log. I can't determine what is right or wrong, cleanmgr says they are superseded and will remove them with enabled (new) option.
You were right, some of these updates were really unofficially replaced. WU continues to offer them, but in fact they are not needed. So Simplix will reorganize and remove the extra set of updates.
After cleaning Dec. 2013 and now with 2014 January updates installed: But now I have installed Office, so maybe there are also Office updates included. Code: Total size of superseded packages: 15.64 MB (16,402,853 bytes) Microsoft-Windows-IE-Troubleshooters-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7601.17514 superseded - uninstalled Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Optional-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~8.0.7601.17514 superseded - uninstalled Package_for_KB2862330~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2 superseded - uninstalled Package_for_KB2868623~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1 superseded - uninstalled Package_for_KB2893984~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2 superseded - uninstalled
gamazet if i applicate the update with December AiO Win7 x64 i get the same result if i do it with fresh ISO ?
When integrating updates, it s not advised to implement LivePack on modded/updated ISO. Use it only on clean image.
Why not try to do this yourself... Make 2x ISO's one from your previous level, and one from clean image. Then you can see the logs/size of final WIM that will tell you what you need to know.
Code: File: UpdatePack7Live-14.1.20.exe CRC-32: 35e4e951 MD4: a8d21dfc8ba31ec5e1a7f91fd24b92c8 MD5: 7a8bb8a76e9a747d64a1b6a99603c0b4 SHA-1: 14d0471ca8b2ae2491cb25981470e39d32bd7c44
I can absolutly confirm that simplix is the best update solution out there. I tested Win7SP1 Enterprise Media Refresh with the new January 2014 release and the cleandisk engine didn't found any superseded update (there war those two (IE-TroubleShooters and INternetExploer-Optional) but those can't be removed at all successfully. WU offers only - the annoying EEA-Browserchoice KB976002 update (not included and this is right way as this shouldn't be included!) - KB2533552 which can't be integrated (confirmed by several sources) - And optional .NET 4.5.1 which is provided as exe within WU (so WU only does some silent setup of you install it) Really... great work! Just let me mention that I personally would split x64 and x86 for time/extraction/temp reasons. But I understand that this might mean additional work or is not in the interest for most users.
I just started using this program to integrate updates/hotfixes into Windows7 distribution (install.wim). I entered the command to integrate IE11 and all the updates to all indexes: UpdatePack7Live.exe /ie11 /WimFile=C:\install.wim /Index=*. When it completes I get this error message: "Failed to unmount the image. The error code is 0xC14Z0117". If I try to use the integration method again it will unmount and then I have to restart my system to continue. The error does not happen if I select to do just 1 index.
I have tinkerd with updated wim's and come to the conclution that you shoud absolutly NOT include IE updates at all! This is broken due to a inability to make changes to default homepage in IE. Wheter you do change default homepage or not. The install dies and is unable to boot after installation. While theres probobly some one smarter than me out there who have cracked this problem, I still find it easyer NOT to touch IE untill after installation is complete. /Rab.
Sorry, have been reading this and am looking forward to upgrading my win 7 Ultimate install.wim. Just one question tho? If i use this update pack to update a wim and say next month or two decide to update again, is it possible to update the previous updated install.wim or is it recommended to start with the original untouched wim file? sorry if If i'm asking something that has already been answered........I just may have overlooked it.
Yes, it scans the mounted wim to see what is already in there. That is a great feature. Big d/l every month. Is it possible to make an svf of the diffs?
Hey, I tried to intigrate 146 updates. With the update from January. It seems everything works fine (get a message in the editor) and in VM windows works. But ,,,I click to update and after 5 minutes Win7 shows 140 updates to be installed? Why?
