Oh, btw, today I tried to install it but it didn't work (I had internet connection). It keep saying the same thing then it sent me to the normal version. I tried, same problem. Good thing that I had it virtualized some time ago so I used that version and it works fine. Seems they have problems with their servers today...
The offline installer should not connect to their server. We should be able to install even without internet connection.
I have a question and maybe someone knows the answer. On a friend's computer (Windows XP) when I install Skype I can't deactivate the automatic start of Skype at Windows startup. In Tools >> Options >> Start Skype when I start Windows is unchecked. I even tried to check and again uncheck. In Start >> Programs >> Startup I don't see it. In registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run or in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run still nothing. So, to solve this, he has to use a virtualized Skype. It's not so bad but still... Thank you in advance for a solution...
I know about msconfig, I use it a lot. The entries in it are from those locations in registry and from Programs >> Startup... That's why it isn't surprizing to say that Skype isn't listed there. Thanks anyway.
In the last year I tried the latest versions. Last version I tried is this one (5.8.0.158). BTW, I see that Windows XP installation again is not working - even if I have internet connection. Only the virtualized one is working well...
I don't know what is the problem. I stopped using XP since 2007. Who uses XP anymore? Only those old fashion people. Anyway I will discuss about this with the Skype developers and let you know.
You say that only old fashion people use XP? Not so, I use it because it's very fast and stable on my computer (especially after I cut half of it with nlite). And there are others (not so few) who use XP and don't like Vista/7, for various reasons. BTW, on the same computer I have Windows 7 also with latest drivers, latest updates but I prefer XP because it's faster. You may not agree with that, but I'm the one working on this computer and I'm sure of that.
