    Hello,

I was wondering whether there is any possibility or interest in working on a proper federation between Skype for Business and Teams Consumer, in case no one has found a solution yet.

As a reminder: Microsoft Lync and Skype for Business Server supported federation with public services. This was known as the PIC program (Personal Instant Messaging Interconnect). Back in 2012, you had to register for PIC to gain access to services such as:

    • MSN
    • Skype
    • Yahoo! Instant Messenger
    • AIM
PIC was a paid service until around 2018.

The federation with Skype Consumer continued to work until May of last year, when the Skype services were shut down.

This leads me to my main question:

Is there any way to make Skype for Business communicate with Teams Consumer, or is this completely impossible?

I’m asking because, for example, in my environment I have a mixed setup:

    • some accounts are on my Skype for Business infrastructure,
    • some are already on Teams,
    • and some are using Teams Consumer.
It feels like there should be a way to make this work… right?
