Ok, since you guys probably are busy with other stuff I'll just replace the Acer Slic 2.0 with the Acer Slic 2.1 and wait for a cert and a key to pop up. That way I don't have to edit the RSDT descriptor. Wish me luck with the flashing
I believe you changed the wrong string. You should leave the string "OEMID_OEMTABLE" alone. You should have changed the string "ACRSYSACRPRDCT" at offset 0xE505 to "HPQOEMSLIC-MPC" and "acer" is just the Creator ID which if you change should be to "HPQ " (hex 48 50 51 20), the last character is a space.
LOL, how silly I didn't saw ACRSYSACRPRDCT there. Yep, I know about HPQ having a 0x20 (space) at the end, that I didn't missed. Gradius
Both your mod works. The HP dv9429us (sp42854.exe) is now successfully activated. I also sent a message to Zort who maintain the All Slics 2.1 (Modded Bios List) list to add mine to it. Do you think you can share your secrets? such as programs, methods etc... I feel bad bothering you for such things if I can do them myself. I've read the guy by yen and understand he basic process but I am still having trouble identifying what needs to be replaced or not. Thanks for everything!
Glad to hear it worked! I've done it manually since there are still reports that even the latest PBE version tends to screw some BIOSes that can brick your motherboard. I will post a guide once I find some more free time. ... but as for your BIOS, I did just plain HEX editing, since your SLIC was stored not as an ACPI mode but split as pubkey-marker in HOLE05 and HOLE06 and these were not compressed and there was no module header where I needed to recalculate checksums
