I never quite got this tool to work. On the Basic page it always says 'SLIC Table Not Find' (sic), yet on the Advanced page it does recognize that i do have the DELL FX09 in the BIOS. Any idea what might be the problem?
Just saw that there is a final now...unfortunately the same problem. The SLP verifier is a useful addition, but im a little confused now. For me it says this: Code: 000FE061 000FE05E - 000FE06E Dell System But then there is the lower field headed 'SLP Invalid Address': Code: Offset Valid Address Range OEM SLP String -- 000FE840 - 000FE850 Dell Computer -- 000FE838 - 000FE850 Dell Inc -- 000FE827 - 000FE848 Dell Quanta -- 000FE076 - 000FE086 Dell System -- 000F49A9 - 000F49B9 Dell System Though the header says 'SLP Invalid Address' the header inside the field says 'Valid Address Range'. Now does that mean that my SLP is outside the proper range (and therefore invalid) or is it inside the proper range and thus valid? Im sorry i have to ask but i cant quite make heads and tails of it...
The ID it is reading is for the RSDT, not the SLIC. You probably have a hidden slic due to No OS or Freedos (LINUX) order for machine. The SLP is within the range specified.. The range for the Dell System is 000FE05Eh - 000FE06Eh...Yours is 000FE061h - 000FE06Bh........This is within the range..
If the SLP string offset is in 'Valid Address Range' means 'SLP Valid Address' ,So you can active OEM XP system.
You'd better to use the last version (2.1F) first. You have acpi V2.0 bios but no xsdt , I Surprise! so the toolkit can't Correct diagnosis.
Unlikely, because the board is a retail model. (I never buy complete-PCs.) I also flashed a modded BIOS a couple of days ago, (said FX09), so even if the original BIOS would have had a hidden SLIC (which im sure it didnt) it would be gone now. Perhaps it is because i turned off XSDT? I needed to enable this when i used a loader for Vista, but when i switched to BIOS mod i disabled it because my board says not to use this for a 32bit OS... Thats good to know. Thanks for that.
I already did. See my second reply. Same problem. Aha...i didnt see this edit earlier but i suspected it could be something with XSDT! My board says "dont use for 32bit" so i disabled it when i didnt need it anymore. I will turn it on when i reboot next time and let you know if it works then... EDIT: The mystery is solved. I just rebooted and enabled XSDT and now the tool works perfectly. Only two fields are empty, (showing green == ), namely the two between X&RSDT and PubKey and Marker. But this doesnt seem to be important.
When you disable "XSDT" in cmos, can you active vista/win7(x86 & x64) ? this message is important for me.
Version 2.1 fails on my machine with: Install Driver Fail! Please Run as Administrator! I am running as administrator and version 2/0 works fine. BIOS activated Server 2008 64 bit
The short answer is yes if im using a modded BIOS, no if im using a loader. To be more precise: XSDT Enabled: Loader and BIOS Mod both activate XSDT Disabled: Loader does not activate, only BIOS Mod activates Conclusion: Loaders seem to depend on the availability of XSDT whereas a modded BIOS will activate 7 even if XSDT is not available. I hope this helps, if you need any other infos just let me know.
