That is because certificate is not installed you would need to be using windows vista or 7 to install certificate to activate.

quick question on this one.... looks like a really useful tool. I picked up a HP Elitebook 2540p for almost nothing (small I7 laptop, that I can use for some minor projects around the home). It does have a Windows 7 sticker on it but, the bottom key cover was replaced at one point, so no key under the battery or on the bottom of the laptop to reinstall Windows 7.

Will this pull the SLIC key from the bios so I can re-activate Windows 7 on this machine ?

Thanks, so I could just grab any key that is OEM listed for the version of Windows 7 that is on this machine (it is professional) and it will activate ? If that is the case, cool and thanks ! I'll give that a shot...

In addition to the key, you also need a matching certificate. The easiest way to get activated is to use Daz's loader. As you already have the slic, it will simply install the key and certificate before exiting.

SLIC in BIOS and installed OEM Certificate have to match. The OEM:SLP key must be for the same SKU/Edition and not blacklisted. I'd recommend to use the 'correct' key, but technically, any OEM:SLP Pro key will work.

Should this program be able to cope with UEFI BIOS? It works great on my older non UEFI BIOS

    After using Andy's V2.66 mod I get a dump failure on Gigabyte Z170X BIOS:weep:

Thanks for letting me know. I suspect the Gigabyte BIOS is not getting modified and the program is indirectly telling me.

SLICToolKit does not work for HDD with GPT partitions.

Thanks for that additional info, I'm betting not too many people know about that restriction.

Alas my partition is standard, never mind I will get to the bottom of the issue in time.

    Carlos,

I just backed up my 6 year old Toshiba Satellite and moved it over to a new (2016) Satellite (disks in MBR mode) using Acronis Universal Restore. Got everything lined out except the machine's activation. The original 'puter came with Win7x64 "Premium" which I upgraded (online) to "Ultimate" a couple months ago. Not sure if my original was offered with Ultimate, what are my options to get this thing reactivated? I have the Premium & Ultimate keys saved via ABR...

    TIA!

If you have slic 2.1 in bios then just use Daz loader to install key and certificate.

I've read whole thread but I am not confident how to proceed.

My Dell XPS bios has SLIC. I would like to add MSDT so I don't have to punch in windows serial each time I install windows.

Is it possible, which tool to use ?

    - I have another identical DELL XPS with both SLIC and MSDM table, can I somehow copy it and update serial number ?

I have SLIC Toolkit and rwEverything but I don't know how to proceed.

    Please and thank you !
