SunLion has vastly more experience in helping people with issues like this, but I just thought I'd add, while the first part of your log file is helpful in seeing what your settings look like, the end of the log file will reveal more about what was going on when Windows Defender stepped on things, ie was it cleaning up or still writing the ISO? As people are often trying to create clean install media on an installation of Windows that can be arffed-up so badly and in a number of ways asymptotic with infinity is a support challenge that only someone as capable as SunLion will brave, and may get to the bottom of. If this is an install you intend on the system you're building it on -- I'd just just reiterate Microsoft's support recommendation for virtually everything that goes wrong with Windows, and do a fast clean reinstall, create your Slimdown10 install media and then do it all again with your Slimdown10 install...
You are probably running the script with your antivirus active, which is not recommended. Whenever you work with scripts, disable your antivirus completely so that you don't have problems like this. Another important thing: unzip Slimdown10--.7z in a directory other than C:\, whenever possible. Run the _CreateISO.cmd script as an administrator.
@SunLion I really love your script! On my most recent install I decided to give your tweaks a whirl, and they are great too. I see that the ISOs are now ending up smaller, and you've even stopped removing the same services as I did (Tailscale and something else were broken), exquisite taste You've put in a lot of hard work that's saved me a bunch of time and made using my computer a much better experience (when booted into Windows anyway...). You rock! I have a couple suggestions: Consider adding your script to a Git repo! It would be much easier to see what you've changed in each release compared to manually diffing the release. I'd be happy to spend some time walking you through it if that would be helpful. Please adjust the ISO filename recognition to accept IoT images, e.g. "en-us_windows_10_iot_enterprise_ltsc_2021_x64_dvd_257ad90f.iso". Currently I have to rename my ISO to remove "iot_" but it otherwise works perfectly (I select the IoT edition during the script). I recommend renaming your scripts to make the flow a little more obvious. Something like "1_PreDownloadAllUpdates_x64.cmd", "2_SD10_Renewed_1.5_Start.cmd", "3_CreateISO.cmd" would make the flow obvious without needing to RTFM. And "Start15.cmd" could be something like "Alternative_Start_NSudo.cmd".
I really appreciate your interest in helping. I have already adjusted the script to recognize windows_10_iot_enterprise_ltsc_2021. As for the enumeration of the scripts, I prefer to keep it as it is. What is really important is to read the instructions contained in the README.txt file beforehand. The steps are sequenced there to ensure everything runs smoothly. As for Git repositories, I have never used them, so I am a layman in this regard. Hugs
===================== SD10_Renewed_1.7 ===================== Updated to version 1904x.5679 - Removed "Disable AutoPlay for other drives than CD/DVD - for security" tweaks - Removed "Disable Windows Update Default" Windows Update will be active at the end of the installation If you want to disable it, use ToggleWindowsUpdate (Utilities) - Updated the hfixes_all.txt and hfixes_ltsc.txt files - Updated the Appx packages - Fixed codes related to EDGE, when the user wants to keep it - Other small adjustments were made https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/slimdown10_v2-0-2-continued.88599/
===================== SD10_Renewed_1.7 ===================== Fixed the Edge add-on removal code that was incorrectly linked to PersonalTweaks. Now it is applied in isolation, regardless of whether the user wants to apply PersonalTweaks or not. I will be replacing the full package with the patched version as well. For those who have already downloaded the complete package, simply download the attached script and replace it in the working folder.
I am NOT sure but would like to ask if SunLion's script to prevent/disable automatic drive encryption on Windows 10. It's noticed that some of my SSD has got BitLocker status. no idea when and how it is there. seems only has happened on new modern computer. my old and very old computers never run into this problem.
Not just to you Not the first case I heard of Ms puch their own agenda Not included crap & spyware That why I call windows freemium'
Is there a way to re-enable Edge? I use Firefox, I don't need Edge nor do I want Edge on my machine but I need WebView2.. for basically everything these days. I've used SD on a W11 23H2 install and chosen the "block edge" option. After discovering I need WebView2, I downloaded the runtime, the WebView2 runtime just does nothing upon execution. Same thing happens when I try to install Edge (was thinking maybe I needed Edge) I previously used SD on a W10 install and removed Edge there, and I was able to install the WebView2 runtime with no issues, with no Edge. I NEED WebView2 and I don't want to reinstall the OS. Do I have any options here?
