Same here, tested on bare metal installs with: · en-us_windows_10_business_editions_version_22h2_updated_sep_2024_x64_dvd_09cc084a.iso * · en-us_windows_10_iot_enterprise_version_22h2_x64_dvd_51cc370f.iso · en-us_windows_10_enterprise_ltsc_2021_x64_dvd_d289cf96.iso * The Windows 10 Pro for Workstations 22H2 option is a nice alternative to LTSC if you need slightly more of the updated crap, but don't want the full boat load of poop that comes with the consumer editions or dump truck convoy loads of crap that come with Windows 11 and can't yet be eradicated...
Currently this script requires too many user inputs during the process, at different time even. The original script only require 1 input at the beginning. Can you remove those inputs by giving it a default value or using a config file?
After a few dozen tests, I decided to have these "stops" so that I could interrupt the process at that moment, if I wanted to. This helps a lot when you forget to change the initial configuration and, to avoid having to wait for the script to finish, close everything and start over. But I'll think about it.
Personally, I like your move to more interactive prompt based script -- this is sound practice for a lot of well known reasons: · new users so they know what the script is doing · new users intimidated by editing script manually · not everyone (noobies included) want the same thing · reminding long term users what the defaults or what some new option does · avoiding redundant posts here asking why did the script do or not do something · if things hang or fail it can also help you find out where and why faster It would not even be a bad thing to have every setting as a prompt based action, with override to set all options to defaults; this would be a lot of tedious work, make the script itself longer, and harder to read, and why Keller probably didn't do it -- but definitely makes things more accessible and more configurable for a broader audience. My biggest personal pet wish though, more important than anything else here and overriding all other things -- is simply that SunLion does what SunLion wants! He's the guy doing all the heavy lifting, no one is paying him, he hasn't even asked for donations (and he probably should), and I think everyone here would agree they'd rather he stayed with it, keeping things working than burned out chasing people's pet wishes. Don't lose sight of the fact that this is a lot of man hours of work, that this script works, and works very well thanks to SunLion! In fact as far as Windows 10 is concerned it remains one of the most feature complete de-crapifying, issue free, configurable, effective and end user easy scripts or tools to use.
On my fresh installation of de-de_windows_10_enterprise_ltsc_2021_x64_dvd_7176d33 with the latest SlimDown10 and Rufus version, half of my start menu is in Portugese. Nothing changes after reboot, after installing OpenShell and switching OpenShell options to German Is there a chance to include the options to chose ReplaceStartMenuWithOpenShell and OpenShellLooksLikeWin7 again?
Updated to SD10v202_36 19044/5.5011 CHANGELOG: - Updated hfixes files for downloading updates - Improved conditions for correct Build identification and thus facilitate other processes safely - Other small adjustments https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/slimdown10_v2-0-2-continued.88599/
Hi SunLion, awesome tool. Would you add newest VisualCppRedist_AIO by abbodi1406? Another thing - although my ISO image is pt-br, the Dart integration is being done in en-us.
I thought it might be because you are using Windows 11 as the host, but that is not the case. Did you edit W10UI.cmd or W10UI.ini ? These files cannot be modified, as they are only used to integrate updates.
And any skins in the "Skins" subdirectory, you might wish to use... A better way imho, to get a totally de-crapified Start Menu that seamlessly matches any Windows desktop aesthetic you may prefer, without doinking up building a Windows installer... If anyone wants my ready-to-go, drag-n-drop, portable configuration, I can upload it.. Yes If could upload this.
