Isn't it rather for Intel mobos, than for Intel CPUs?
I guess, will this work just fine with Intel mobo with AMD CPU, right? :)

Thanks a lot to sebus and kibkalo for all explanations!
Just a couple comments, please don’t take them seriously, they are ONLY IMHO!

IMHO, everything is either program(code) or data. Code could be data and data could be code. Very simple, right?

Wow! Very nice! May I put it in my signature, please?

No, a Intel processor identifies itself as Genuine Intel Processor, A Intel motherboard doesn't as far as i know ;)

Right. But in order to get “Genuine Intel” string, you need to execute CPUID command, as oppose to read string from BIOS (Intel motherboard). Does OEM set have an option like this: Exec “this cmd” and “check result there”? Or might be BIOS startup code saves result of CPUID into a memory address read by activation code later?

I think it's time for you to get familiar with computer basics and after that read up on OEM:SLP activation (it's in the XP section stickies)
no need to to get into this any further as it is selfexplaining

I guess that might take quite a while. Could you recommend any good book to start with so we will be on the same page when I come back? :)

I’ll certainly read it up. I thought, OEM:SLP activation based on presence predefined strings at some memory ranges. It’s, probably, more than that.
