Instead of that i got 8 hidden files^ Tried HPSET14E.EXE (68 923 bytes, MD5: 18e743cbcc6ca49e0c54300c9bd6cd43) - the same story - 8 hidden files^ Is there any way to update BIOS ?
if you want you can try use EFI version of DMI utility from archive 1.4D. utility is lockated in to the inserted Brand11.zip you should extract it to the flash drive and run according to the below manual As usual you have to change SKU if it is visilbele in the menu. I don't have such notebook to check myself. ! your feedback whould be highly appreciated!
I'm trying to simply delete the asset tag on a Vostro 230 system. The older asset.com utility (from Dell support file Z8314R14.EXE) does not recognize the system. The FASSET.EXE utility (from Vostro Resource CD CSD\TOOLS\BIOS\FASSET.EXE) reads the service and asset tags and thinks it changed the asset tag but it's still PASS:12/34 after reboot. PlatTags.exe says it's for laptops and does not recognize the system. Dell CCTK (Client Configuration ToolKit) reads service & asset tags, but can not change Vostro asset tags. Anybody successfully change an asset tag on a Vostro 200/230/260/430/460 system? What utility did you use?
DellBIOSReset or DSTCD disks with SVCTAG (A28 or A12) all report that system is not supported. PlatTags also fails. The closest is FASSET, but the change is ignored after boot. I assume that the real data is copied to the 'old' location for compatibility purposes and the FASSET utility only changes the old location. The data then is overwritten on the next boot. So what utility works with Vostro to set Asset tags? From a USB DOS Boot: A:\>SMMFGCFG Dell Notebook Manufacturing Configuration Utility Based on SMBIOS: Verrsion 4.6 DELL INTERNAL USE ONLY WARNING: There is no type DA SMBIOS table! WARNING: There is no type D4 SMBIOS table! Allocate device table error. A:\>PlatTags.exe RPT PlatTags.exe -- Version 3.004 (C) Copyright 1993-2009 Dell Inc. ERROR: Problem in communicating with the BIOS (Status=1) A:\>FASSET FASSET -- Version 1.0.4.0 Copyright (C) 2007 Foxconn LTD. Service Tag => CORRECT Asset Tag => PASS:12/34 If I use FASSET NEWTAG it will then show Asset Tag => NEWTAG (or FASSET /d will erase it) but it reappears on reboot.
Hello, does anybody have an utility to read the SLIC (tried to read with SLIC Dump toolkit and RwV, but no SLIC version ) working on DOS for HP Pavilion G6- 1205EQ? Thank you.
I've tried to use HP DMI SLP v.1.4D , but no succes. ( some error 0x86), than tried other 2 ways proposed in this thread, but also, didn't work. I am using HP Pavilion G6 - 1205EQ, just bought it and for a couple of days I'm trying to activate win7, but those two appls doesn't show the SLIC version and for that I tried to enable it, but didnt't work. Is someone who manage to enable it for HP Pavilion G6 laptops? I should mentioned that I have Insyde Bios, updated recently to last version. Thank you in advance.
