HP 655 SKU: B6N19EA#BCM (version with SUSE Linux for EMEA market). I founded solution for SLIC 2.1 on HP Notebook 655 with SUSE Linux. In pure DOS use utility HPBFO052.EXE from NbDmiFit-1.19 for inserting SLIC 2.1 directly into BIOS: Call this utility and you are in Basic Menu. With F1 and Shift pressed type ADV - and you are now in Advanced Menu. 1) from this Advanced Menu select (press) 2 for OS SKU and you can enter type of operating system shipped with NB as 2 = Win7 and confirm with ENTER. Then press ESC for return into menu. 2) from Advanced Menu select C for Win7/Win8 Configuration and specify your version of Windows as 0 = Starter, 1 = Home Basic, 2 = Home Premium, 3 = Professional, 4 = Ultimate - confirm with ENTER and press ESC for return to menu. 3) Now press 2x ESC for return to DOS 4) reboot and check SLIC table in BIOS
Sorry to all for my noobeness, but I cannot work out how to run anything, I tried slic, but when i run hp usb disk storage format tool to create flashdisk, i put minidos folder in but when it completes, the disk is blank! as for fixing product name with NbDmiFit 1.19 or NbDmiFit 1.18, how do i run these? i found these files in hpDMI tools folder, but when i click them they do not open?? ITS SO STRANGE, why can i not run my recovery disks?
@ jayma im also a noob with this things but this is how i solved my problem with regards to the missing dmi info (serial number, product number etc) during boot up first i make a bootable usb. i used rufus_v1.2.0 after which i put all the contents of NbDmiFit into the usb.shutdown down my laptop. switch on your laptop with the bootable usb in the usb port (make sure that it will boot first from usb in your bios boot options after a command promt will be displayed if your usb booted correctly.to vies the contents of your usb just type "dir" (w/o quotes) and hit enter.likewise you can also type "dir /p" if you u want scroll down the contents of the usb. in case i cant launch the hpbq file so i tried launching NbDmiFit.exe instead and i was able to access the place where i need to put my dmi info.just make sure u have needed infos for your laptop. hope this helps
what bootable iso did you use when using rufus? also did you copy just files from NbDmiFit or the folder itself? i tried but i cannot make bootable usb without a iso
Thank U Dear Don Quijote for your reply & I'm honored to be your friend. From the bottom of my heart i wish for U & Everyone in this wonderful forum a healthy happy peaceful life.
hit with a further snag though. the modifying of serial number and product number in bios worked, so now disk is being recognised but, now when i boot up with recovery disks i get this new message: "The system recovery discs do not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with these discs." with a bit of googling something to do with motherboard number on system and disks not matching?? any ideas
