"Smart Storage Battery" really needed, when using an UPS for the server ?

Today on a reboot, the server (ML-350 Gen9) says:
"313-HP Smart Storage Battery 1 Failure - Battery Shutdown Event Code: 0x0400."
ILO says its degraded. Googles advice is to replace it.

Im aware its used to "preserve data" in case of a power failure.

My question would be, is the "Smart Storage Battery" in an HP server really needed for "normal work", if I have an UPS attached to the server, that will shut it down normally anyway, in case of a power failure ?

Or will there be other "problems" involved, when not replacing the Smart Storage Battery...or completely remove it ?

Get rid of the battery & disable write caching for your raid. Performance will be slower though.
Those "Smart Storage Batteries" don't last that long...

"The controller will deactivate the cache automatically if the battery charge drops below a certain threshold."

So I should be fine removing the battery from a shutdown server, without the need to re-configure scripts using the ILO CLI prompt ?

Any chance to get any battery charge details without manual measuring ?
