You don't need to understand the Chinese thread, I just post it as a source by habit. colinzim: tks, my bad.
No, it doesn't, because you can only launch it within win8; but I guess if it proves workable then somebody would make it launch on start-up.
Guess it still requires polishing. btw, there was a old trick to get back disappearing taskbar icons, shortcuts etc,: use task manager to end explorer and then start it again ..... don't know if it works?
I have added the exe file to my startup folder. Now, 8 boots directly to the desktop AND no longer has the charms bar nonsense. Also, as I was able to adjust my taskbar the way I like it, ie; 'xp style', I believe I have this turkey setup just the way I like it. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or no microturd comes along and somehow disable all these fixes in rtm...
MS is on a very tight schedule to RTM, I don't believe they have the luxury of developing some new codings to prevent Metro-killing, LOL.
Ok, I noticed something. By adding the exe to startup, I seemed to lose my "show desktop" functions. Removing it, and manually clicking it returned the function. Not sure if it was a one time problem. I'll check it again later, after work
Ok, I have repeated the process several times now, and it happens each time. Loaded the exe via the startup folder breaks the "show desktop" function. Running the exe outside of the startup folder, does not. Funny.
