I think we scared him away. Either that, or he realized that trying to advertise to us is a hopeless cause, and we'll block you at every turn.
Where did ads go wrong? I'm not actually against ads if they help pay for server costs etc. For me it's when they became popups, as apposed to embedded. Then fake "download", or often redirect page causing you to lose the content you were trying to view. I wonder if ad providers had stuck with basic adds embedded at a fixed point in the page they would not be so hated/blocked?
I have a problem now with Firefox and Gmail chat: I downloaded the video/audio chat plugin many times, installed it and - nothing.... Grrrr....
