derp.. ok weird, after running yours, then doing the add-appxpackage (which I did in error scrolling up in the commands) it actually installed, which it would not do in the past WTF? now Edge works. ugh.. I am going to have to rebuild this and run it again to see what worked, I need to script this into the image deployment through Altiris, and I want to make sure the process is right
In powershell as admin run: Code: get-windowspackage -online -packagename "*Windows-Internet-Browser-Package*" | remove-windowspackage -online
I have Edge v 44.17763.1.0 install via abodi's script. Is there a newer version ? How do you update it ?
I downloaded the latest KB and ran the updater. I get this message but when I check the version number of Edge it is still the same at 17763.1.0
If the files here are updated, then UI version doesn't matter Code: C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe anyone with normal edition (Pro, Enterprise.. etc), does the version gets change with updates?
Since Edge has been phased out by MS, did you try the new Edge based on Chromium? I am unsure if it is supported by 2015 LTSB but what this site is for then? Beta Testing and theories abound!
The reason why you would want the old edge is, for example, Netflix. Old edge can stream in 4K, chromium only to 720p. I don't want to use an app, i prefer edge and use it only for that... That being said, I managed to install the 17763 version on LTSC machine, but can't get the older version on LTSB machine.. Does someone have a simple step by step solution, as this thread is a pain to follow? The script from page 2 for ltsb 2016 installs it, but edge opens and immediately closes... Thanks in advance
I think the original topic should be edited to say "Add Microsoft Edge (Spartan) to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB (LTSC)" to avoid confusion between the Chromium and Spartan versions of MS Edge
