A stupid question: any chance could we get Edge Legacy working on LTSC 2021? It sounds impossible, but I might be very wrong.
I keep seeing people repeatedly asking such question in this post. Yes, Chromium browsers are much more superior indeed - but it's about backup plan where you could fall back to in case things go wrong, and choice. Imagine situations like, running into weird issues where you simply cannot figure out if it's Chrome, Firefox, your net, or all that jazz. One more browser with a different engine might help.
Every day brings more and more fun things and suggestions ... When will this new browser come and how will it help and make people smarter?
Buy this logic then also install Safari for Windows. It's years outdated which will bring nothing of value in such cases, same with Edge Legacy.
You'll probably be surprised how many places on the Internet are not really designed with up-to-date browser support in mind. For the record I do have the lastest Chromium Edge, Chrome and Firefox installed; I just run into very outdated websites I have to use without any options on that side. I posted only to seek for a solution to an issue I have - look, I don't *beg* for that solution or cry over it: if it's not realistic, not doable, sure, I should walk past it and move forward. But if your sole purpose is to have a good laugh at some very not smart people (i.e. me), or argue for the sake of arguing, then fine, good for you too.
Hello, I managed to install legacy edge on windows 10 enterprise LTSC 1809 but when i try to open an epub file, it ask me to open the epub file or cancel , if i click on open, it ask me again to open or cancel....
The answer is yes. Copy files to C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\ Then remove AppListEntry="none" from AppxManifest.xml.
You can install it properly. Just remove the stub edge packages from 20H2/21H1/22H2, then grab the edge packages from 19041.x (19041.868 if you want the last version before the removal) then install them using dism (or the handy winaerotweaker shell extension). P.S. If you want the very last version you can grab it from Win 10 10.0.21301 (Microsoft-Windows-Internet-Browser-Package-amd64-10.0.21301.1010.cab)
Obviously. but no one forces anyone to be sick with the latest CU disease. Install the LCU when they fix add something interesting (say the backport of WSLg in the end of 2022), then repeat the process, it's matter of a couple of minutes
Re executing these component operations will always require a reboot, while modifying AppxManifest.xml can be automatically completed using scheduled tasks.
