@ Freestyler, True enough, Operator error/confusion is a dictinct possibility. @ riahc3, Please post a link to the BIOS Mod you flashed. And what copy of Win 7 did you Install ? You still Have Dell SLIC showing and if you Flashed a Bios with ASUS SLIC and you removed any Loader (Possibly installed by a Pre-Activated copy of Win 7) then it would show an ASUS SLIC.
To uninstall key use this command: slmgr -upk You do not have to uninstall certificates, but some reported succes after issueing the following command, slmgr -rilc Anyway, to be 100% sure, no loader is installed you should follow these steps: * Boot up the PC from your Windows installation disk * Select the "Repair your computer" option * Select "Command Prompt" * Input "bootsect.exe /nt60 SYS /force" (Without quotes) * Restart the PC
Until you can stop the software protection service you will have a problem. Did you have anything open that could be preventing you from stopping the service? If you didn't this is your problem, a bad sppsvc. You didn't mention running the WAT cleanup fix. Did you run it? It has a good track record when it comes to curing most activation related problems.
Hi all, I have a pretty long experience with modding bioses by myself and activating win7 with that method. From what I read so far, I think the Nojuan999 approach on riahc3 problem is the more susceptible to solve the issue. The bios mod used initially, if available, will show if asus or dell slic was used. If it was an Asus slic, then the problem is there as Dell slic should'nt shows up..
This is the next thing Im going to try..... After that, if it doesnt work, Ill try installing a Dell (since my SLIC seems to be a Dell) cert and key. I am sure I have never ran a loader on this PC. I formatted it this summer. We fixed/clear the MBR. There is no loader on my PC. Insulting me when I know that there is no loader is just........
My mistake: Like I said, I flashed it over a year ago. I installed a ISO with a same MD5 and SHA-1 as the one in The Official Windows 7 Repository. Obviously, my last resort is to format (something I do not want since I just did it this summer....) My problem/question is that why does it work on my laptop which I formatted/installed the same day with the same ISO?
If your slic is a Dell slic, and you don't have a Dell cert already installed, since this summer, your windows would have never been activated. So there's no need to install a Dell cert now, it should already be present. The key doesn't matter as far it's not blacklisted. And apparently it's already a Dell key : your MGAdiag report shows : Windows Product Key: *****-*****-X92GV-V7DCV-P4K27
Good news for now....I just installed the Dell cert with the Dell key and it has switched to activated. Restarting and lets see....
Insulting??? I just explained NoJuan999 that 9/10 times issues like this arise when people don't exactly know what they have done while installing. 1) You say you used ASUS SLIC and ASUS Cert 2) You say you never used a loader 3) You say you used untouched installation media (Verified hashes) 4) You have a DELL SLIC in your bios. What is your own conclusion reading these 4 points? Anyway, glad you finally got it working... this could have gone much quicker, the fact this topic already has grown 6 pages long is not because of your expertise
Finally............the nightmare seems to be over. Restarted and Windows is still activated. Im just still surprised why this happened in the first place. I quote you directly: IMO, that is insulting I do not know why/how (this is the only correct point) a Dell SLIC is reported but I followed all the steps given on here. Should I fix it (I rather not as I have this finally fixed)?
Leave it, my guess you flashed a DELL SLIC in the first place, if you ran 'bootsect.exe /nt60 SYS /force' you can be sure the dell SLIC is in your bios and not inside a loader or such
Now last question : how was your windows 7 activated until yesterday with a dell Slic and an Asus certificate ?
That's what I wanted to say. And the reason why I would like to understand what really happened to riahc3 PC.
If he installed the same certificate and key that was used previously... For me activation files were corrupted and were restored (not needed validation) and it can happen to anyone. Simple.
