Here you go!!! Seems like it's gpt? So I did something wrong then? But what? I changed the bios to legacy and installed windows 7 fresh. Even formated it with the disc. So yeah what did I do wrong :/. I don't mind to do it again but what step did I mess up?
@vree 1. What is the exact model of the HP PC? 2. You've enabled 'Legacy Support', which enables you to boot both legacy & UEFI bootable medias in HP PC. Its your installation media, which is UEFI complaint so you're booted in UEFI mode. 3. If you're using Rufus to make the bootable USB, then make sure to set 'Partition scheme & target system type' as 'MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI computers' and 'File system' as 'NTFS'. This will ensure that the bootable USB is strictly legacy complaint, not UEFI.
so you're saying as i thought that he installed his win7 ultimate in UEFI mode with GPT disk, Right ? i told him that before but he kept saying that he installed his win7 in legacy mode which logically is impossible because afaik you cannot install windows version on legacy boot using GPT disk. But i want to understand something , your answer may be helpful, if we choose to enable "legacy boot" so logically UEFI is disabled automatically, correct ? if yes, so how did he manage to install win7 on UEFI mode when "legacy mode" has been enabled ?
It depends on the implementation of the firmware vendor & OEM - in case of post 2011 HP laptops with Insyde firmware, you can't completely turn off UEFI boot - its either vanilla UEFI mode or UEFI mode with CSM/legacy.
Update to all: It works now. I guess the formating in cmd did the trick in stead of just turning on legacy and formating using the windows 7 disc! Thanks to all who helped me out! Now my girlfriend can use her laptop and I can sleep.
I guess yeah. I would have thought the windows 7 disc would do that if it was put in legacy mode. Not sure why it's so finicky. Since it installed fine without being in MBR. Only the activator didn't work.
Well be nice to us and help us sleep as well... Show output of (in admin CMD): Code: diskpart then Code: lis dis
If you want windows to be able to reinstall on MBR after it was GPT partitioned before: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...dows-7-with-wl-or-kmspico.74915/#post-1364300
Yeah I know that now. I just wonder why it matters. I installed windows 7 on GPT and everything was working fine. The only thing I couldn't do was activate it with the loader. For that to work it needed to be MBR. Which is bs in my opinion.
^^You're still free to install Professional or Enterprise in GPT layout and activate by KMS .In opposite to the loader it isn't depending on partition style.
BS? It's how DAZ designed the loader. But you probably don't know the loader works fine on GPT systems, as long as there is a valid slic for Win 7 inside the bios. If there is a valid slic, the loader will install the appropriate certificates and key and skip the install of the loader part.
Yeah thanks for that info. Can be useful in the future if I need to do this kind of things again. I'm a diehard windows 7 fan xD
