Short summary: I cannot get Windows Update to update anymore. After searching the forms and trying fixes I've decided to just reinstall Windows 10 and start all over. After these four events, I shall now start over with Windows 10. -SFC doesn't detect any issues. -Windows update: Error code: (0x80073712). -DISM couldn't locate source file. -Setting Troubleshooting cannot fix the issue either. I've decided to just go with reinstalling Windows 10. I shall be Resetting this PC via the Settings Option. Does the OS keep it's genuine status after running that option? How do I make sure the new Windows 10 knows it's valid? The Window Key on this is genuine, it came with the laptop when I bought it. How do I make sure it's still valid after the install? Just want to make sure that I don't mess this up, since the OS Key cost a lot of money. MAJOR UPDATE: I've figured out how to have Office work again : Go back to your confirmation email for Office and you can pull up the installer again for that particular key. Since I worked out how to get office back I edited the question to just ask the Windows OS portion Thanks in advance for your input. -John
Did you try built-in Windows Update Troubleshooter coz most of the update issues can be resolved by running it. Settings -> Update & Security -> Troubleshoot -> Windows Update -> Run the troubleshooter
Yes I have tried that as well. Thank you for your suggestion. I shall make a note of it in my question so not to lead others to believe that I hadn't tried that as well. -John. Also at this point I've given up trying to fix windows update. Its common knowledge that there are issues with it, yes windows 8 has much more. Sad to think Win10 was a upgrade from Win7.
If you have office 360 license the only thing that you have to do is use the office installer and activate with you account you have bought office with
Good Morning, I appreciate the fast reply. But I do not have Office 360. To clarify I have office 2016. I bought it online a while back. I still have the confirmation email that Microsoft sent to my email when I bought it if that helps at all -John
Oke then you can activate with the serial at activation screen specify that you want to use an serial there is an option for that
I think I figured it out with going back to my specific order when I purchased it, it gives me the option to dl in installer with the specific key. Thanks for the tip though -John
