    Every time I click a magnet link in Google Chrome and Edge, I'm asked if I allow the sites in question to open links of that type in the associated app (μTorrent) when I've already checked their checkboxes to always allow it.

    Have you checked that Windows still saves your selections and does it exist after restart?
    Sometimes may happen, that it won't store the selection.

    Sorry, but what do you mean by that? When I click in a magnet link Windows asks me if I want to open it with μTorrent or cancel. I checked the box to always use μTorrent.

    As @kaljukass has suggested. Check & manually set the default apps by file type. It's in settings...

    Already did but I'm talking about the magnet links which I can't find here. I guess it should be on "choose default apps by protocol" but I can't find "magnet" there.

    I've used malware free utorrent 2.2.1 for years.
    The magnet link association problem with chrome has nothing to with windows associations, it's a chrome association that's the problem.
    In any browser (I don't use edge so I don't know about it) I can associate magnet links with utorrent with any browser but chrome.
    I've never found a fix so I'll be watching this thread.

    utorrent is a spyware. use bittorrent or qbittorrent. all these apps got option inside to manage torrent and magnet handlers. check options.

    Which is the best P2P software? Those 2, μTorrent or maybe other one? Also, I've been having this prompt when opening eD2k links on Chrome too.

    Just tried this scenario with latest chrome and utorrent 2.2.1,
    It worked just fine.

    @Windows 10 User
    Btw if you are facing issues, try deleting this reg key to reset magnet link preference, after that set preference using the menu in Utorrent. It should fix the issue.
    Code:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Magnet
    btw the issue with utorrent 2.2.1 is that when loading magnet files, you don't get to choose which files you want to download or not. You can do this only after when it starts downloading, which is quite a let down for me.

    I deleted the reg key. Sorry, but where can I find that setting? Also, how can I prevent μTorrent from creating TORRENT files after running a magnet link?
