Both are sister companies, and follow almost the same code base and serve the same level of adware. Last time I used qbittorrent it had issues with fetching peers, I mean, the same torrent can start downloading early in other clients but take more time in qbittorrent. Did many tests with some weak torrents. utorrent/bittorrent are not usable for obvious reasons. After using every app for quite some time, I finally got settled with tixati.
I found the solution to avoid chrome and edge asking magnet links to open with dialog box every time. Copy below code to a text file and rename extension to .reg file and execute the reg file to add in your registry. open chrome and click any magnet link. then a dialog box appears to choose "always open" option. click that option. now click another magnet link and check yourself that your favorite torrent client opens automatically. Sometimes programmers think with sh*t head and remove useful functions in the name of security instead of working around security.
I already clicked "Options" in "Preferences" but can't find those settings. EDIT: I found both of them but I can't click "Associate with torrent files" since it's greyed out (maybe it's because I'm using a RePack μTorrentPro version). Also, does this setting regard magnet links or only torrent files?
Thanks, it worked! There's no other fix than importing this reg key? It's stupid that one has to import this reg key to fix the problem.
Do you know how to prevent this annoying μTorrent notification from appearing every time I open it? I'm tired of clicking on "Accept and close". Also, how can I prevent μTorrent from copying the torrents to C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent and eMule from creating a folder called "eMule" on my Downloads folder?
Downloaded utorrent 3.5.5 latest version to check the problem you specified. It is not asking anything like "accept and close" as you said. About torrent files copying, there is an option inside app to select which directories used to store .torrent files and downloaded files. Don't you see options when using an app ? I suggest bittorrent over utorrent because both are same with UI and options. I use both bittorrent and qbittorrent because some torrents downloads faster in qbit and others in bittorrent randomly.
It's working now but before it wasn't. Weird. And is it possible to prevent it from saving the torrent files in the first place? What's faster, using a P2P program or those programs to download files from a magnet link (and I guess torrent files too)? EDIT: It looks like the annoying notification appears after using a RePack μTorrentPro version. After using a different μTorrent version, I no longer have it.
torrent file have better chances to connect quickly and give faster downloads than magnet links. use cracked bittorrent if you have problems with utorrent. Bitcomet is also free without ads now. Try it.
What about μtorrent Web and μtorrent Classic using torrent files, which one is faster? EDIT: Now, Chrome and Edge state they are managed by my organization after importing the REG file and don't let me change some settings.
Do not use utorrent. It contains so much spy. First best option is qbittorrent. Second Bittorrent pro cracked and 3rd Bitcomet. Latest chrome and edge only shows open dialog box for magnet for first time. If you click the checkbox in that dialog to open always, it never ask you again. No need of the reg file.
After all I'm still being asked every time I click a magnet link in every site even after importing the REG key.
I tested in both edge and chrome latest versions. first time when you click a magnet link on those browsers, it show dialog box with check box to ask if always allow torrent client to open. You have to click check box and then open button. Later browser never ask question and directly open torrent client on clicking magnet.
That's what I did but the dialog box still appears sometimes. Maybe it's because I'm using a RePack μTorrentPro version.
