A friend of mine has an old xp-install with oe6 for mail. Works ok, but has one problem: pdf-attachments wont open in oe6. Has to store the attachment on desktop, exit oe6, and then open the pdf directly from the desktop. Checked controlpanel, folder-alternatives, filetypes, and pdf-type is set to open in adobe acrobat. Whats wrong with oe 6 ? regards snofte
Thanks for advise. Have not had the opportunity to visit friend yet to try out, but in the meantime, what do you think of this:?? msimn /reg regards snofte
Two replies in this thread has been deleted, so I try again: What is the best way to fix oe6 so that it can open pdf-attachments directly ? If I save the pdf til desktop, and open it outside oe6, it works fine, but it is not the way to do it in the long run. regards Snofte
Try this: From the desktop PDF file > right click on it > select "Open with" > then select oe6 > you could put a check in the box to always use oe6.
Thanks oldsh for tip, tried, but unfortunatly did not help. But have SOLVED the problem: Suddenly I had same problem on other xp-pc. It came just after having installed and tried a pdf password remover from wondershare.net. Just after this, oe6 could not open pdf attachments. Had to remove pdf entry in controlpanel/folderalternatives, then uninstall adobe reader, boot, download and re-install adobe reader. Problem SOLVED !! Can anyone explain this strange behaviour ?? regards erik
pdf password remover from wondershare.net Took over control of any PDF files on you computer would be my best guess. And programs like this to remove passwords never work anyway.
