Why not just create a new task in task scheduler, run a script that disables the Windows Update service every 15 minutes? I'm pretty sure MS will not check the service so-often as 15 minutes!
My bet is it was update KB4023057. If you read the information for the update it says it affects the update process to ensure reliability.
Interesting. I shut PC down today (was away all day), came home and started system, no re-enable, and I was on for 4 hours. Shut down again (as I was out for a meal tonight), came home just now, started PC, and within 5 mins, this God damn thing has now re-enabled itself. So it ain't regular, timed, or whatever? Gonna try removing that update, will report back.
KB4023057 is installed, shows up in WUMT as installed, but does not show up in Windows either way?, and more importantly, not for uninstall. I wonder why? Yes, it is the new Windows 10 era indeed, and don't I know it!
Can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink Mr X and myself have giving a solution simple isn't it not if you don't listen and keep trying your own thing its like recreating the wheel good luck with that Anyhow my last reply to this thread Cause: Missing or corrupt files within the CU Fix: Option 1:Clear update history download offending update and reinstall it offline Option 2:Block updates with WUB and wait for next months CU
I've been waiting for someone like you to lighten up my day, and know what?, you have done just that. Why?, because the utter 'bull' that is coming from your mouth is dribbling, and my 5 year old finds it funny Have you not even read this thread? No, I suspect not. Option 1: Done. Option 2: Ridiculous, and why would I have to, if you say 'Option 1' is the problem?, besides, if you had read original post, then you would have known I had updates blocked in the first place. Option 3: Go away!, your not helping, as you can't even construct a paragraph, let alone a sentence.
scarymonga my mistake sorry I upset you I got confused I thought the tread was about blocking updates then you start talking about uninstalling an update my bad atleast your child got a kick out of you smiling about my poor English. But the question remains why have you not responded to anyone else's sugestions given in YOUR thread in particular The Beatles post on first page it seems to me that should have resolved the problem and ended the thread am I wrong or are you just dragging this out to have rant for something I bet you got for nothing again I'm sorry for you. Hope your not one of those rantifiles that would be sad at the very least for those who are here for help and expect some sort of decentcey from people on this site. Good luck for what you are trying to achieve.
How about letting the damn wuauserv to run huh? Let it run but put something in the middle that interferes with its functions, how bout that huh? Then pull out that something in the middle when you want to update and let the damn system to install anything it wants to, no matter it runs wuauserv and related anytime.
How about me not wanting it to run, as it's my system, and that is what I choose? How about that? How about MS not sneakily re-enabling the service (when it feels like it), despite me having it purposely disabled? How about that? 'Principle'!!
How about you realizing M$ do whatever they want to huh? Answer from you: Yes I understand it now, Microsoft do whatever they want and I've lose some prerogatives of my "freedom". Now repeat it until you finally get over it. Then inner peace.
So, if MS somehow controlled your television viewing (mind you, that may not be far off), changing over channels to what 'it' thought you wanted to watch, despite you choosing what you really want to watch, you would just accept that as the 'norm', and 'get over it'? Yeah, I'm sure your 'inner peace' would be gone faster than a sneaky service switch
Nice try with that analogy but no, do not compare tv with a Windows driven computer. Point here is M$ has begun, still and will make such changes despite users wishes or will. I just embraced that, that, I mean M$ practices and terms, so I use clever workarounds, then go to sleep peacefully. That's it.
