There are many loaders...i think it's the best thing for you to try out first, before taking up the bios-mod challenge.

Many ppl find Hazar's and Daz's loaders to be among the best...

But hazar has dropped support for his loader, cause of his work on RemoveWAT and other things.

RemoveWAT is another possability, also by Hazar :

This works great also, plus you'll get online support from the (14y old) man himself ;)

Get up to speed on both, and pick your favorite, both ways gonna work fine.

    Sincerely

As you stated, flashing the BIOS is the most risky, you COULD leave your PC permanently damaged, could.

By using a loader, the worst that will happen is Windows 7 wont boot.

Absolute worst case, you reload Windows. Your PC is still operational.

    Your choice.

Me, I use a modded BIOS where possible, happy to take the risk :D

VAIO VGN CR 36 G becomes DEAD on running WINDOWS 7

well I also have vaio VGN CR 36G laptop and when i tried to install RC version of windows 7 on it ,Laptop became dead after 2 days.I had to send my laptop to sony service centre and they said that my laptop was gone in PROTECTION MODE.First time i didnt realize the reason for that but after getting my laptop back i runned windows vista for 10 days without any difficulty and the day i installed again WINDOWS 7 it become dead(PROTECTION MODE).
The problem that i found so far is that of ATI graphics card.as ATI is not providing any update for this card.According to microsoft WINDOWS 7 UPDATE advisor If i can update my graphics card software i would be able to run windows 7.
If someone is running wndows7 on this laptop without any problems please tell me.

i too hav the same laptop and i hav successfully instaled win 7 ultimate.
all u need to do is make the recovery disks first.(incase this doesnt work)
then install windows 7 at boot time and completely format c drive. install in c drive only. when win 7 starts download the drivers from sony asia pacific site
