Thank you Stannieman for this guide! I've successfully integrated SP1 Wave0 into x64 WZOR release. Install.wim size is now 3.779.111.409 bytes. Tested in VMware, works great! Too bad the ISO doesn't fit on my 4GiB flashdrive anymore Just wish there was a way to remove the SP1 backup files. I assume the official integrated ISOs from MS will be smaller in size. I've tried to use "/cleanup-image /spsuperseded" on the mount with integrated SP1, but it mentions there are no backup files in the mounted image.
Just wondering, whats the point of using this method, when it leaves behind all the backup files that cannot be removed? Wonder how Microsoft does it
I'm installing rtm now in vmware and then I'm going to install sp1 over it + delete backup files. Comparing disk usage with the slipstreamed one will tell if the backup files are still there. Anyway, some files are indeed always left behind, that's why the original integrated ones are preferred over this method and rt7. @mOBSCENE: what kind of iso is that? Multiple languages or x86 and x64 in one? @ita: If both x64 and x86 are in 1 install.wim than make an x64 directory to extract the x64 sp1 to, and extract x86 to x86extract. Just follow the guide and for the x86 indexes of install.wim integrate x86extract, and idem for x64. But know this also means you should have both x64 and x86 in boot.wim, so you'll need to udpate both if you want the eulas correctly.
Actually, it is x64 English only (Retail Ultimate ISO). Install.wim size grew with 0,85GB after integration. I was also going to compare the disk usage . Currently testing RTM x64 + manual SP1, will post results when done. Results on VMware, W7 x64 English (pagefile/hiberfile/system restore OFF) RTM + Manual SP1 installation / removal backup files = 7,8 GB disk usage SP1 integrated installation = 8,5 GB disk usage Looks like the backup files are still there after all I'll be waiting for an official integrated ISO, before I reinstall. EDIT: @ Stannieman: Yes, all 4 indexes updated and I've performed the "imagex /export C:\sp1\install.wim * C:\sp1\newinstall.wim /check /compress maximum", which was successful.
Did you update all indexes in the wim and export it using imagex? EDIT: OK it sould be good then. My english x86 install.wim grew by .55GB.
About removing SP1 backup files. I dont know, but in Vista was SP1 and SP-1 (SP minus 1) integrated after using vLite. Try to look into packages, if here is something like that. If yes, try to remove it.
Do you know how wim images are build up? @hclarkjr: if rt7 leaves it behind then the chance is pretty big this method leaves it behind too.
3) Navigate to C:\sp1\mount\Windows\System32\xx-XX and copy the Licenses to somewhere else. Replace xx-XX with the language-id of the language if the windows version in install.wim. Where are the new licensefolder, is it "DefaultEULAs" ? And what about multilinguistic isos like i have? I have one with english, swedish and traditional chinese.
tcntad This sentence I do not understand what it means or. how to do it. I think someone could write such as what and how.
In xx-XX is a folder named, licenses, copy that folder cause you'll need it later. If you have multilang iso then do this for all languages but make sure you still know which one is from which lang. The defaulteulas are always english, this licenses folder contains localized eulas. EDIT: I'll try to expain it better, but I'm not very good at explaining things clearly. EDIT 2: Better like this?
So i copy sv-se, en-us & zh-tw to another folder.. Aha i missunderstood abit I thougt i was gonna copy or overwrite them with other files..
No you'll get an error that it can't find the files. Same thing happens if you run "DISM /online /cleanup-Image /spsuperseded" after you install from a slipstreamed iso.
