I noticed that you mentioned 3.3RU9 and 10. Have you seen either of these releases? Are these release improved over 3.3RU8? Does anyone have 3.3RU10?
Whenever I clone any PC, I always store the Ghostsrv.exe and Ghost64.exe along with the backup-files - then not being backwards compatible isn't a problem - I always have the right version at hand...
Ghost64 can easily be used to back up both x86 and x64 systems, it's only for the host PE operating system.
On the topic backward compatibility. I just booted up a Lenovo T470 using a Win PE 10 x64 boot image that included Ghost 12 (ghost64.exe from GSS 3.3RU8) and restored a disk image from a network share. The ghost image was created a DOS Ghost 10 (GSS 2.5). Initially I was worried about backward compatibility and being able to restore the old image. After the restore, the system booted up cleanly.
I am not sure. The closest way I can think of may be to determine when Broadcom acquired GSS. There seems to be a lot of news when they acquired SEP. I have not had a chance to find the news release of when GSS was acquired. If you find out, I would be interested as well. I did not want to assume they got Ghost with SEP... Once you have the acquisition date, you might be able to correlate this with the release history. This might get you close to what you are looking for. On the release history of GSS, I have a PDF that lists some of the ghost version numbers with GSS version numbers, if it will help. Just let me know.
