Any error code? 0x800f081f is CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING, meaning it can't find the file. nVidia drivers are known to cause this, so if that's what you're running that may be the issue (and is probably unrelated to your other issues). Anyway, what's the reason for "/limitaccess"? That blocks it from trying to use an online repair source.
HA! I found the cause of the problem. I restored my Acronis Image and it worked PERFECTLY (DISM RestoreHealth and all), but then I did System Disk Cleanup, which lasted 10 minutes and cleaned up about 4GB worth of data. Then DISM stopped working...
It did, then I ran updates and it stopped working even on my previous backed up image that was working FLAWLESSLY before. What kind of crap is that? Could it be because I removed Cortana?
I honestly do not know, maybe someone else here does, things are changing it seems, and this Anniversary Update that everyone is so looking forward to, better hold off with their normal "Tweaks" until we know the full extent of what occurs after applied.
I am not tweaking ANYTHING! I restored even an older image and the same "Received bad Stub" began happening right after I updated the OS... I think I will try my luck with a Preview build until the Anniversary update comes out...
I think I am onto something here! I noticed CCleaner finds a registry error for these: My error message are "Received Bad Stub". It happens whenever I try to do something (launch an .exe or merge a .reg file) that relies on a process, which cannot be started because Task Scheduler service is not working (always set to Automatic though). It seems that Software Protection service is one of the biggest processes that cannot be started due to Task Scheduled service being shut down. Here's what MS site says about ProxyStubCLSID32: Am I onto something here or not? I get this error regardless of whether I choose to clean those registries with CCleaner or not. I was just wondering if the reason CCleaner detects those entries as problematic one is because they relied on something that isn't there anymore... some file?
You have quite an awesome rig out there, and since you dont tweak anything, I bet once you run all your hardware at stock speeds and perform a real clean install with everything at defaults, you will stop having these ridiculous failures it shows on you.
NVidia has officially responded saying they could reproduce the problem and a fix is on its way! Guru3D members think that this error is caused either by MFAA or DSR or both settings enabled. I had both enabled. I disabled them and so far no errors! Who would've thunk that video drivers could bloody terminate Task Scheduler service. I bet a ton of people out there are affected, re-installing, re-tweaking their OS, going crazy trying to find out WTH is going on! NVidia drivers are getting worse and worse!
you cant blame task scheduler for this, after all, its a piece of crap OS, made of patch after patch. anyways, try the so called sfc /scannow. If that s**t doesnt work try with dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth even if that doesnt work, just gave up and install mint.
