Hmm I'd be interested to give this a shot and see if 2016 will work more like LTSB or anniversary edition when it comes to extenders. My guess would be more like anniversary edition, but I might try installing this and giving it a test. Update: tried it, got the 10016 error did the Component services fix that I had seen and completed previously in win 10. Can't get it to connect to the extender, and no more event viewer entries, much like win 10 anniversary edition. Actually I don't even get to the second check box that says searching for your extender. In win 10 anniv I get to that point, and it fails first time and second time it usually works. Maybe you'll have better luck meluvalli
You're really missing out on the complete WMC Experience. How much would an Xbox 360 Slim cost at your local pawn shop? Maybe we will get you one for Xmas. Xbox is more fun than beer.
I got everything installed, but just as a previous poster mentioned. I cannot get WMC to start! All codecs and bda stack installed, the service will not start. ehsvrc ......... both have an error message and will not start manually. brb with the error messages snakeman
The only reason I switched to Server 2008 R2 enterprise, because I need the primary domain controller, and I wanted to run Exchange 2010 not the newer version. I slipstreamed the files like the previous posts in Windows home server 2011 will same results. I tried 12 hours ago. Maybe I have the wrong version of WMC from windows 7 64bit sp1. It simply does not start and services will not start manually or other wise. I'm looking to see if I have a copy of Storage Server or 2008 R2 essentials to try them also. snakeman
I gave up on WMC after it doesn't work on 1607+, i installed kodi+npvr, and great thing about kodi is i can watch live tv on any system on the network (even android i suppose) plus i can even watch with RDP without any restrictions and screen can be maximized/minimized/customized properly unlike WMC, did i mention that it records as a .TS file not some proprietary format.
I have npvr install doesn't support hardware acceleration on the host, although very slick I'm currently using it. I still have issues pausing and resuming tv on linux boxes using npvr-pvr client on Kodi. snakeman
I did a little reading. There are a few things that might take me some time. 1- Download Abbodi's extractor. If you are extracting from a x64 win7, you need to edit SxSExtractor.cmd accordingly the cmd is written for x86. I think he said change all the x86's to x64's 2-Take the 2 files and make them part of the Server 2008 r2 image, using MSM Toolkit 3-Get the 4 files that were edited by Graznok, or edit them yourself. Graznok usually posts the name of the files and what to edit. Jam these 4 files into the image. 4-Install Server 2008 R2 I have never seen Server 2008, but I would assume WMC is in "Programs and Features" or the server equivalent. This is how I perceive the install. How does it compare to your perception? One thing I haven't found yet is the 4 edited files....one was ehulip EDIT: I found the files (finally) in Post #1
Yes, I followed all those directions I even have quite a few images I created myself. None actually start WMC on Server 2008 R2 platform "for me"! On the other hand Server 2012 R2 works great, but I need to run Exchange 2010 I can not install 2010 on 2012 R2 only Exchange 2013 and up. Its such a memory hog. I will need at least 16 gigs to run it comfortably. snakeman
Add Network Service to the Administrator's Group? Run WMC as Admin or with TestRights? What error do you get in Event Viewer when WMC fails to run? Another guess here....I wonder if you might need an older WMC? Win7/SP1 or (pre-SP1)
I tried looking for an old version of WMC pre no luck so far. I'm almost ready to give up. I think T ----S was really banned. Wow! Adding it to the administators group did not help snakeman
You neet to replace the four patched files from post 1 to have the services working, installing the WMC cabs is (obviusly) not enough. And you need to replace (or better hardlink like in the original) all the occourrences of the patched files. Just use the hard link shell extension to check the path of all occourrences.
I suspected that when he was talking. The banning confirms it. Think about it...Some guy with 5 posts walks in the room, and knows more about the project you are working on than both of us put together.
