Researchers at MIT have developed a prototype 3-D printer that is up to 10x faster than current consumer printers. One of the things that makes this much faster is their use of a laser to help melt the plastic faster. Once this technology makes it to market I bet we see much faster adoption of 3-D printers in businesses and homes. You can read about the abstract of the research here. Check out this video of the tech in action.

Can I also make my own EV, a la Tesla Model X the same way? Or a guitar?!? YUM! If so, then Star Trek tech is really on its way, non? Oh, FFS, now they've done it, with this "discovery" - the Social Darwinists will go nuts...

Joe & co. - could you have imagined hand held "communicators" and those "tablets" they were holding when the series started? Who remembers that brick you could use as a defensive weapon, when the first mobile phones were introduced? Etc. etc. And now, they are starting to build nano-probes killing only tumour cells, regenerating tissue fully, growing meat in a lab... And one doesn't even wants to start talking about cloning, genetic manipulation and a whole host of fundamentals...
