I have created Windows 8 Online Setup torrent file, so you can add this to repo. Link below:- Link has now been removed as it is available on first post!
help with msconfig issue and how does one "swipe" to access charms THANK YOU! The target of your post though I already got that part lucky me. There are two things I can not figure out. 1. How does one "swipe"? I don't do gestures or movements in rl or with a computer if I can avoid it, I'm a words menu checkbox sort of person. Objective: I can't find the intended sign-off/shutdown routine in consumer preview (it was easy in Dev Prev). 2. Amazed to see msconfig not only worked but better, there is a default OS switch and I can do win7 or win8 from win8. Maybe visa versa...this is my usual way to safe boot in windows. BUT now msconfig exits with a runtime error and I have no idea why. Had thought to see if I could nuke it and download/reinstall it. Next I shall try to set win8 for safe boot in win7 and then safe boot win8, as that recently (done other way around) let me fix an intractable issue with notepad.exe in win7 (explorer could let me open files edit them save same name in notepad, but notepad could neither search for existing files via explorer nor save an edit under a new filename via explorer; sfc helped not as always, but going thru the safe boot fixed it. ANY RESPONSE anywhere I might be able to find it would be lovely, this is my first visit to these forums I don't know them yet lol
Wow! I am new here to this forum. I have interesting to learn more informations. I am boost by your post.....
In the Consumer Preview it is possible to show the full available rows of Tiles without changing the registry: In the Start screen, open the Charms Bar and select Settings. There you can toggle the full amount of Tiles.
Maybe it is only there if you have a large monitor? I'm running Consumer Preview on a 24" display with 1920x1200 pixel.
From the START menu open the Charms bar - settings - settings again and it should be there - at least it is on mine. Doesn't seem to be there from desktop. HTH
Add Move to & Copy to folder. to the context menu. open regedit and enter the following code. (also works in win 7) move to folder Code: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}] copy to folder. Code: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}] Have attached reg files as well
It is about the vertical resolution or the aspect ration: on a 16x9 display you won't get this option. On a 16x10 display, there is room for another row of tiles and the option is available.
