both above files same SHA-1 ? i just got the x64 from ms direct link, below are the details:- File: Windows8-ConsumerPreview-64bit-English.iso (3.33 GB) CRC-32: b88b61a2 MD4: d0fc69d3342a74504007e686925a669a MD5: cda63e335fb9af5354c63441f5aa5169 SHA-1: 1288519c5035bcac83cbfa23a33038ccf5522749
Clearly the method of activation is a retail key. Run slmgr.vbs /dlv and you can see Windows(R) Operating System, RETAIL channel in the description.
hope you are immortal then. there is no perfection with something so complex. there is good enough, the ms standard; for maybe 10 or 100 million times as much money, you could be assured of the best money could buy, but it still would not be perfect. imho anyway. I've never seen anything on a computer that I could not break lol
About a year after Windows 8 comes out. SP1 for Windows 9 will most likely come out a year after it is released too, I know this because it's an aim for Microsoft. Release it after a couple of months and people will claim it was faulty to start with, leave it too long and you might discourage people from moving over to it (such as those on here saying they won't use Windows 8 until after SP1).
What would be good, if activation is easiest on the enterprise edition, is for and x64 non-n enterprise iso with the Windows 8 RTM boot environment
Don't worry I will post the isos when they are available. You will have to wait till the 15th like the rest of us. (I don't post leaked stuff, sorry)
I agree, everyone should just wait for the MSDN & TECHNET iso's and download the proper version which will probably be the enterprise version with media player, and by then we should have a KMS solution for activation.
Great! Can't wait 'til the 15th. From the forums I've been reading, a lot of people are impressed with 8 and are saying it's getting too much of a bad rap. I'll install it on my family's computer and see how they (all computer-illiterate) like it.
