It seems pretty likely that it is set based on the size of your monitor, my dell xps2720 has 6 wide tiles any my others are all three so all anybody has to do is find where that is set..i'm guessing the registry or a file..haha

with the other start menus that have 3 tiles,if you hover your cursor on the edge of the right side of the menu and hold left mouse button down, you can drag it,and it will expand to 6 medium sized tiles wide as well.

Start Menu is awesome. You the one who hasn't used it as daily driver. No need to scroll just click on alphabet letter, the whole alphabet pops up, and you select letter to go to. Then you are magically taken there!

    good to know!

just tried it and I like it a lot more than 3, you can actually fit plenty in 6 wide for things you use a lot.

and it only highlights the letters that actually have apps that start with that letter.

If you resize the menu all you get is another group, it's not the same.

I know this way. But after installing a bunch of new programs, when you don't know the first alphabet of .exe & folder, it's a pain in a$$.

And you said, it's awesome - then tell me, why I can't get right-click menu, when I click on a program or folder. I can't rename, delete or copy-paste anything from 'All Apps'. MSFT fanboyz.

I'm using Windows 10 as daily driver from it's first public release (October 2014) and it's absolutely awesome.

It's not PIA for me to scroll apps but actually I see no reason to do it often anyway. Press Windows button then start typing desired app name and it will appear at the top of the menu. Right click on it to Pin, Run as Admin, etc... or click/press Enter to run. Easy as pie.

That's what I want though, more visible icons without having to scroll down, much like the old start menu only instantly available. I wish I could get a couple more groups wide too.

i click the little arrow next to the folder which opens the folder, right click icons in the folders to get a context menu,i click open file location and i can delete or rename,if you pin some of those apps to the start menu, you can change the name of the icon that appears on the start menu tiles, don't like lots of writing under my tile icons.

I'm talking about the programs/folders in 'All Apps', not pinned tiles.

I agree that order needs to be done in all apps menu.
Tried to reorganize metro apps from C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts/
but it didn't worked for me.

I've been using it as my daily driver throughout the whole insider program process. I don't find scrolling the alphabetical categorized "All Apps" difficult at all, and you can select a category letter heading and then go where you want on the grid. I personally would love it if they had a setting to make that alphabetic grid come up automatically when you hit "All Apps." Yes, they took away the ability to pin to the left, that was deliberate --you can pin as a tile to the right though. I don't hate XAML though I will admit that I wish that would port the thing into DUI. The only other thing I would really like to see badly is the ability to adjust the width of the tile categories.

I personally think that "do I like it or not" is not really important : different people have different ways to work, and you should be able to customize the os the way you want.
